Most of the time use the twist lock. If I have to go longer, the gardener XL. Plus the cheapest 36 in net I can find, can't see any reason to spend more on an expensive net.
I've never heard of anyone using 300 yards of line of any discription on a centrepin. i usually use between 50 and 80 yards to prevent bedding in. Do you not have this problem? And no barbel don't run for that amount of yards
I was put off of that idea by a good friend and good angler. He was complaining that the basias would not deal with barbel ? could have been carp on the tidal Arun. This is a very experienced carp angler.
Your gear seems fine. I am trying to reduce the amount of tackle that I now have. I'm sure that I have no need for 26 rods and reels. :rolleyes: and I still catch once in a while🤣🤣
I have both Drennan and Gardner. I have not had a problem after many years using the Drennan . I prefer the Drennan as as well as being lighter it is also infinitely adjustable. The Gardner (XL) can only be used at 4, 8, and 12 feet. (Bought for fishing from high banks)
I also use a Deeper but use a 'Start', I did have a 'Pro Plus', but lost it in the Arun, that was painful on the wallet. The lesson learned was use a wire trace. It was taken by a pike on the retrieve. Be careful with boats on the Thames. I tend to use the Deeper to start on a new stretch and...
