i have used paper clips before today, they work in affect, but with rivers like ,trent,ribble,wye,with lots of rocks and snags, you loose lots of feeders and leads and get costly,think the best option is somthing like 7lb line attached to feeders /leads

my best barbel is 10lb 3 0z on the stick from the severn, but had loads of barbel 8/9 + off severn/dane and ribble/trent, and lost some creatures,

if the river is shallow and slow, i will use pva bags pinched on the hook with mixed particles and small bollie bits and a small lead, other wise a feeder with a dryish mix with particles and bollie or pellet on hook with a bit of paste on if the river has a little pace on it,all depends what...

welcome jack, you will get all the info you need to help you on here, lots of good advise from anglers a cross the country on rivers ,tackle rods,baits, reports on streches etc etc, list goes on

nash 10s for small baits, raptors 10s for pellets etc, with long hairs/ short,

weigh in of fish only weigh fish close to a double as a rule;)

depending on river venue and fishing deep water should be no problem, but lower river with hardly any flow, then i would see it as a big concern for fish in general,me go home,

read on another forum that some anglers tried them, but with no success,

10.1 lb silstar match team, low diameter, good knoth strenght use it all the time, for long trotting, need it, especially on a pacey river, you need to have some strong line to put mr barbel under pressure and stop him from heading down river, for snaggs if possible ,lol

have nt use an alarm, its eyes and isotope, but i do have forty winks, with line around index finger:p, think will use alarm this season,on low volume:)
