For a long time I have been a one rod man. Landing net pole, two bank sticks banded to a made up rod, a small ruck sack and a small bait bucket. My only indulgence is I now take a low roving chair on a shoulder strap rather than a light folding Shakespeare chair. Most of my fishing is short...

Hi Jim, as you can imagine it has had some outings with the rivers being in flood. Very pleased with it. I us it with a Shimano baitrunner and 12lb line. I fish mainly the Nidd which is a narrow snag infested river and I can hit and hold with confidence. Not the poker some people say it is.
I have read articles and watched videos produced by Fennell Hudson for his Fennel's Priory web page. I realise he can come across as a young foggy with his tatterstall shirts, waistcoats and flat cap but he talk a lot of sense about traditional angling being more a mind set rather than just the...
I have the Harrison Avon 1:6lb TC rod and use 30g/1oz leads and feeders maximum. If I need more I am using the wrong rod and set up to my 1;75lb TC rod.
Had a few hours at one of my clubs still waters. I appeared to be the only Wag and Mag man surrounded by carp bashing boys. I had to take what swim was available which had a cross wind blowing fallen willow flowers on the surface. Had fish from the start, small pristine roach. Rung the changes...
Shimano Aero GTE 8000b with spare spool, box and all paper work. Some cosmetic damage but does not affect the reel which works perfectly
Asking £65 posted.
I’m doing the usual closed season rationalisation and realised my BFW Bob Gill built Torrix has not seen the bank for two seasons. It’s time for someone to love it and use it. Comes with Bob Gill trade mark isotope fitting.
I am asking £140. Collect only from Leeds (LS8 1) or a mutually...
I was watching it yesterday and my wife, who has no interested, in angling sat down and watched it with me. She said what a great ambassador he was for the sport.
I fish the Nidd regularly and my go to rod is the the Harrison Avon 1:6. Having said that I would only use it at summer levels. It just bents and bents and with the Nidd barbel averaging 4 to 6lbs it stops then in there tracks. I have had an 8lber and it handle that fish easily which is a good...
John Bailey, like many prolific writers, produced a number of pot boilers and frankly mediocre books, but also produced some real gems. Travels with a Two Piece, In Visible Waters the two you mentioned and the Fishing Detective spring to mind.
Recently I have found my self reading and re-reading the books about early specimen hunting which morphed into specialist angling. These usually had a editor who may contribute an article or two, but the the bulk of the books were articles by leading specialist on a particular species. Often...
