    Kelly kettle

    chub

I've been lucky enough to catch a few recently to 4:14 using only a single swan shot about 2ft from a size 10 loaded with red maggots....this has been fished alongside a bolt rig set up which is now retired as the hook up ratio was so poor in comparison to the light weight rig rod. Paul

What am i doing wrong with my boilies?

I used to make a lot of my own boilies and kept my hookers preserved in a tub of fish oils and my chuckers in the freezer as you describe - never got too hung up about the freezer burns as they were going to be loose fed.... tend to buy ready mades these days as they are easier all round, I...

    Length of hooklinks ?

Gary, The Teme fish had been really well fed on freebies and literally ripping the bottom up at my feet less than a foot from the bank on several occasions this season. I caught a few on 10-12" links with the lead actually on the bank they were that close in until I decided to shorten the...

    Length of hooklinks ?

Darren, Traditional pop-up 3' off bottom....caught initially by accident when the counter balance shot was missing after netting. Thought it might be something useful so cast it back out and caught another a few hours later :) I've only used it so far in high pressure systems when the...

    Length of hooklinks ?

For me it's usually the opposite to what others are doing....I've had Barbel this Summer in gin clear Teme water on 3" nylon hooklengths and also on the Lower Severn on 3ft pop-ups in high pressure weather systems when there were fish splashing all over the surface. My usual starting point...

    Feeder Mixes

John, I dampen it down into a cage feeder on the Severn and dampen and dropper it in on the Teme....I have observed a marked upturn in feeding fish at my feet in gin clear water with this stuff. It is on the expensive side but if it works....? Paul

    Feeder Mixes

I use a feeder for most of my Lower Severn trips....in the feeders I use a mix from Hinders in Swindon called Barbel Bomb - it works!! Paul

Foxy you lightweight.... ....stick a bankstick in there, wiggle it about and then just go for the Chub:eek::eek:;)

    Big river feeders

I opt for a 35mm film canister with the end cut off and a strap lead in the 150g/175g weight with a short length of braid used to attach it to a lead clip - works well and with the amount of abuse they can take on the Lower Severn in Winter will not break the bank if/when they are lost...

    Massive well done to.....Mark De-Lancey.

    Pop-ups - Do You Bother?

I'm a regular pop-up user on the Lower 7rn using an over shotted set up as I don't think that critical balancing is necessary in moving water - yet!! I tend to fish the pop-up either glued onto a long shank ALA S. Morgan esq. or tied tight to the eye of a Mugga hook....that way the eye of the...
