I couldn't make the talk in Tewkesbury....work always seems to get in the way !!!
Anyway, I always store my baits in dry rice....takes away ALL the excess moisture leaving a nice hard bait - Perfect :) I do like the idea though, of garlic and salt??

IMO, Barbel will eat just about anything they can get in their mouth....If you can feed them up without scaring them and gain their confidence.
In the clear Teme water I use loads of feed items so I can see when they have thrown caution to the wind before I put a bait in....on the deeper...
Tom,
Yup, when I make baits that's what I do....I also boil my baits up in the water I drain off my hempseed after cooking ;)
Not sure if it helps either way really?? but surely can't do any harm at all....

This should do it....

In reality, Barbel are pretty simple creatures that are often fairly simple to outwit....even for me sometimes:o:o
Be stealthy, put some food in and wait before putting...
I NEVER venture out after Barbel without some Barbel Bomb powder....dampened down and used as loose feed, dropperred or in a feeder it has produced the most pronounced feeding response I've seen to date.

Keith,
Although I've already said "WOW" earlier in this thread....Can I just say "WOW" again?
All those who've caught a 13+ Barbel on float tackle, form a queue...
...anyone??
Paul
