The Barbel Society-2014 Research & Conservation Online Auction Lot listing

Well Lee, Rich Frampton said on his FB page on 22nd Nov that, and I quote, "the BS will be lucky to reach 400 members next year". That's not a rumour. . .

    Hi All

The really big fish are not at all common Gary, nor easy to catch. I prefer the river to those huge dams myself.

    Hi All

You don't get Barbus barbus in Spain Garry, the Pyrenees got in the way. The Guadiana system has Comizo, smallhead and Iberian (or common) barbel I believe. It seems to me that comizo and smallhead are the most numerous and hybrids of the two. The smallheads do go well over 20lb they say...

    Hi All

The smallhead barbel in Spain actually fight a damn sight harder than the Comizos in my opinion. The first run of a comizo can be awesome but they soon give up.

Retirement and fishing, more or less

Neil,.. All my complaining? I prefer to fish in Spain at the mo, that's all, its nicer and the fishing is good, so are the people. You however get "annoyed" should you think someone is detracting somehow from this Country. You posted "I really get annoyed off with ex pats that stick the...

Neil, you said........"It is a problem litter, it always is of late, only yesterday I picked up a load from my local Mill Avon, it's the Big Society they say, if we all actually did something about our litter / yobs then it would disappear, always someone else's problem though / 'don't get...

Retirement and fishing, more or less

Explore some rivers here Neil!....... I spent 30 years fishing almost all of them. So yes "done" most. Everyone has choice, I choose to mainly fish in Spain,... having done both I make my choice through experience. An option you don't have. Despite my name I am as British as you, other than...

Retirement and fishing, more or less

Ex Pat? Where did I say I lived in Spain?....... I said I spent 9 or 10 weeks of the year fishing in Spain. You really must pay attention Neil. Yup Wye Valley is lovely, go and fish Collingham on the Trent for an illustration of my point. Fishing here generally aint what it was though...

    Whats happened to?

Utter rubbish Paul, Damien was last seen wandering the banks of the Avon in a yellow mini dress and high heels, he was sporting a long black wig with tiara. I'm told Dave went in search of the Yeti. .

Retirement and fishing, more or less

I hung my spurs up 3 years ago at 51. I hardly fish in the Uk these days, instead I fish for barbel in Spain for 9 or 10 weeks of the year........... It so much nicer when you have the whole river to yourself, and there are no bivvies or alarms or drunken fools leaving bottles and litter...

Too many just turn and face the other way so well done Howard. Hope they don't read BFW as they now know who you are! .

How can the Barbel Society help?

There isn't a thread really,......... Pope says contact him if you want help, no one has come up with anything! Some of us say "why"? its only the BS, there are certainly better avenues than Steve Pope to go down. Or is it all just propaganda as Lee asked? Folks have been banned from BFW for...

How can the Barbel Society help?

You cant tell em Lee, just wait a few years until they have all left disenchanted and the next batch of gullible souls have been pushed forward,.... then they will know. Hundreds of us have gone before you lads, we all left, I once sang the song louder than all of you. I hear there has...
