I'm with Joe, 5 years since I retired at 51. Still loving every min of every day. Don't fish in the Uk as much as I once did and not often for barbel. There is so much more to keep me occupied and I fish when the fancy takes me.
As for pensions, cashed it all in and invested it myself, works...
Always makes me laugh how those who cant do it don't see the need. Mark asked for help, not alternatives.
There is no finer way to float fish....... in my opinion.
Mark, I have come across a few folks over the years who find it almost impossible to master, others have the knack in 5 mins...
"Why the Trent became polluted"? What 30 years ago?... Been a while since then aint it? Trent today is as clean as a clean thing, at least the salmon and trout seem to think so.
As Mark said, the 410 is a far better reel for barbel, good float or tench reel the 440.
I use a 330, has the same auto bail arm but the gearing of the 300, for some of my grayling and tench fishing.

You could quite easily train him out of all those behaviours David. Clever dogs Cockers, the fact that he doesn't behave well enough to go fishing with you is your fault not his.
