Chris Holley used to do guiding sessions on the Hampshire Avon/Stour and is contactable through them. If he is no longer doing it I'm sure they will be able to put you onto someone.
But it's the understated look that I find appealing. Probably aimed primarily at cane users and an Okuma Raw on cane would just look wrong. I have always preferred a less ventilated pin ( although I own them ) to help keep out the maggot dust, groundbait, etc and on the few reviews I have seen...
Apart from being on their membership Britford used to be on a day ticket as well. Nice fishery with a bit of everything with most coarse fish plus Trout and Grayling.
There was one in very good nick on sale for £80 on FB the other day. I actually enquired about it but it had already gone. Not surprised at that price.

I never play a fish off the ratchet as I just think it disturbs the peace and quiet of anyone else fishing nearby and I think after while it would get on my own nerves as well. It's up there for me with setting your hangers with the alarm still on. But a ratchet as a bite alarm..............Well...
