The main difference is the Mk1 has a spliced in soft piece of carbon in the tip, which cushions the affect of leaves and debris building up on the line, and helps prevent the pressure of the debris dislodging the lead.
If you can find somewhere safe and sheltered to fish then it's great conditions, low pressure and warm water coming in. One of my bits of the Trent fished very well yesterday...unfortunately I was 130 miles away from it!
I've watched some of Andy Orme's old stuff, Hunting for Barbel and The Mystical Barbel, very nostalgic with a lot of it filmed on the River Teme back in the halcyon days!
If you can live without them being baitrunners (The ice washers fitted compensate for that though) Rob Linwood has got these for sale, they would be ideal too, and are a steal at the price he wants for them!👌
