    Making your own bait.

A kilo of base mix makes more than a kilo of ready mades , and it’ll last ages , think I went through 3 kilo last season with some left You only need one flavour and eggs on top of that , 50 mil of flavour £15 and you’ll never use it all Mr Issac’s got me going on JBs bait and I never looked...

    Making your own bait.

I make my own with JBs stuff , find it more rewarding and adds another dimension to my fishing , personally think off the shelf stuff is much of a muchness and made to a price point . I’ve had some great results with my own bait but very rarely with off the shelf stuff , so that’s good enough...

As with any stretch of river the further away from the car park the quieter it will be , I’ve walked the full length from Kirkham to Howsham bridge and back again and yes I didn’t see a soul , not sure how many barbel are above Howsham weir either , the main bit around the road bridge gets very...

    Yorkshire Derwent

I’d look at Howsham it will suit your methods perfectly. I’ve fished it a fair bit and really enjoyed it . In fact I might get another York book this year . It does get busy though especially early on in the season .

    Fox specialist brolly

I have the Drennan 44” and really like it , I bought it for the tight swims I fish and works well without the centre pole and storm poles . I also have the Korum 50” which is obviously better where there's more room , I fitted the missing storm caps the Korum is missing Not sure what the Fox...

    Torrix or hi s rods

I spoke to Chas a few times about building me a pair of C3 s gave him the specs I wanted and he was very unresponsive via text , waited ages for an answer which didn’t bode well ended up going to Dave Lumb who did a fantastic rod for a similar price

My 2lb 11ft Torrix feel just like that , not tried the H-S but the Torrixs do everything I want on small to medium sized rivers

    Wellies

Yeah I love mine , usually wear a thin pair and a thick pair ( I’m a nine and I bought a ten ) I paid £40 for mine which I still think is fantastic value you basically stole them for £30 🤪

    Wellies

Hi Mike I’d say they are wide enough but I like my salopettes over the boot They are much heavier than my Muck boots Derwent , but there 8.5 mm neoprene so a lot warmer than the Derwents I don’t actually feel the extra weight when walking , they do feel like a solid construction though and...
