    Oiling a cork handle

The 'EVA' (ethylene vinyl acetate) is the generic, whilst 'Duplon' is a specific form (i.e. it's a type/polymer/isomer) of EVA. EVA is a 'synthetic rubber' and can be very hard or very soft, and each grade will be produced with a specific or suggested end-use in mind.

    Oiling a cork handle

I'm not one for cleaning rods as they're made so that mud/dirt won't harm them, and the last thing I'd want is to get precious about them on muddy winter banks. They get washed when it rains, and that's it. But .. in the past I have oiled cork handles on some 40+ year old rods. I thought long...

What is the ultimate setup for a long walk?

Sooooo .... it's designed so you can walk around with a stool sticking out of your ar$e. Nice 💩🤔

What is the ultimate setup for a long walk?

It's a Shimano Bum Buddy Jim ...rare as hen's teeth these days. They have a shoulder strap, a Velcro fastening handle, one large and one smaller zip-up pocket at the back, two steel reinforcing strips to add some rigidity, and enough room between the actual seat surface and the back for an...

    OMC magic twig

I watched one fat lad using a bait boat on the Teme (as his wife 'n child looked on ....bored). He ended up going for a (necessary) swim. 😂 🤣 😂 There We Are Then.

Loved in iconoclastic nature of the OP (thank you Nigel). Loved Mike's very sensible reply (thank you Mike). What I do know is .... we don't know (the 'truth', the reality, on many aspects of angling). At best, we surmise. N.b... we do actually know though that an awful lot of sheer bo11ocks...

    Flavoured meat

The last thing I'd be worried about getting on my hands on a rat infested, swan sh1te bedecked bank would be my luncheon meat, that's been in a plastic bag, inside a tub, in and out of the freezer (especially if it had a light covering of garlic oil).

    OMC magic twig

I totally agree. Let's say I'd got an aversion/intolerance/fear of lobworms so I asked a friend to bait my hook with one for me, then I cast that bait out on a rod that I had rigged up myself. If I caught a fish on that rod, I'd be ok with claiming that fish as my catch. But if I kept on missing...

    Floodwater line

I've been using Krystonite (12lb/0.31mm) almost exclusively* since 2002. I've always been very pleased with it so I see no reason to change. It's fluorocarbon coated, supple, supplied in bulk spools, and it too is a 'copolymer' (but I wouldn't think there's any actual monomer lines made for...

    Lidl garlic sausage

I use #2 or #4 Gripz .... really sharp, stay sharp, much easier to remove from a barbel ... but I've not lost a single barbel/fish using these.

    Waterproof jacket

IMO ....If you want 'waterproof', and breathable then it's going to be expensive, it'll need looking after (washing/re-proofing/re-activating), and it will leak after a while (especially at the seams). I now use a Snugpak Patrol Poncho (under £40) ....100% waterproof, needs no care, can be worn...

    Flavouring Hemp

😂 🤣 😂 I reckon this thread has gone way off the OP (well, lost the plot really😂). The question posed was ... what was our thoughts on flavouring hemp, not "Is there any benefit to be gained in flavouring baits in general". I think we've all added flavours to our baits, groundbaits, etc, if only...

The Teme : 🎶 "Where have all the barbel gone, long time pa-ah-sing"🎶 But, I SO love the place ....miles of it all to myself.

Bit of fun... What's everyone's preferred boilie of choice

Overall I reckon I'm with Derek on this one. I must have tried 20+ different boilies over the years and they'll all 'work', but (IMO) only as they are bait i.e. they're edible and nutritious, so they get eaten. Basically I believe (on balance) that the flavour is the main attractant not the...

    Hinders Elips Pellets

I'm the same ...I buy pre-drilled 'base' pellets (Dynamite usually) ... and if I want to fish with "Elips" I just soak a few in proprietary Elips Oil, if I want Krill pellets I soak a few in Sticky Krill bait dip etc. That makes good sense to me.
