I think i'd go down the 4 piece Avon route too. Greys do a few cheaper options too - though I broke the one i had - shock.

Agree rich - problem comes when your rigs are about 2ft 6in or longer.

Probably right, I had a 3 piece 9ft harrison stalker - was a nightmare to pack up, ended up walking with a 9ft stick in front of you. Tend to use a 2 piece 10ft on small rivers roving about now.

Some went on here for £170 each last year... in demand I guess. Why so few three piece rods any more? Cost more to make ?

Lovely rod to play modest sized fish on, perhaps a little soft when the going gets tough or the fish get big and head for sanctuary.

Daiwa made a lot of great rods in the 90's and early naughties for us specialists.

I've done similar Richard but put them on the floor in the back, there's vents under the front seats to warm passengers feet. Does work surprisingly well.

Agree entirely. At times i'll use my HI S 1.75 for rolling meat if there's a bit of water on, or on a bigger river. But if want to sit behind a ledger at night when you know there are decent fish about, it's the Hi S 'barbel' all day, great rod.

Had a pair of Seekers for about 20 years, great rod and an excellent blank generally. I bought a pair of Hi S 2lb and agree with Rob, they really are excellent and when you need to stop a decent fish going in a snag, they've got the power to do so. I would say that one top section has cracked...

I've watched barbel feeding in a marginal spot by torch light - didn't put them off. I'm fishing another stretch next to a busy road, used by HGV's and they come down their at night with massive amounts of lights on - which hit the water as they come over the bridge. Catch fish regardless...
