    JW Young - servicing?

Thanks Ian. I may do so. Is it easy enough to replace bearings on these models too?

    JW Young - servicing?

Over the past month or so I’ve acquired a JW Young River Specialist and John Wilson (now Heritage) from members of this forum. Whilst they are both in good condition I’d like them serviced before they are pressed into use. I hear good things about servicing via JW Youngs but what is the...

    NGT CENTREPIN ... blimey !!!

I’m going to jump on the bandwagon and try one of these (with upgraded bearings) for general / Chub trotting duties. Typically bigger/heavier float work so not so precious over what it takes to rotate on the spindle.

Any you’d recommend in particular Damian? Or just pick a well reviewed one from Amazon?

    Baiting/feeding strategy

I considered putting this in the Barbel basics forum but I’m keen to hear views on the following. I’m fishing small southern rivers, with highly localised fish which see a reasonable amount of pressure (in the more accessible swims anyway). Assuming I am using a boilie (JB) and possibly pellet...

    CATCH CULT 41 UPDATE

Hi Martin, Just wanted to acknowledge the great work you do with this publication. I am from the era of Coarse Fisherman and then Coarse Angling Today and appreciate the tactile experience of leafing through a magazine with a variety of authors, not just elaborate adverts pushed by shills...

    Environment Agency Action

Exposing the data publicly is key. If we had sewage output info in the same dynamic way we that have water levels, lobbying becomes easier and substantiated. Better still, link senior management bonuses to volumes of discharge and reduce based on that.

    Making your own bait.

@Kevin Brown Is that a vacuum sealer behind the boilie gun? If you’re making up 6 trips worth, do you freeze or just refrigerate the rest of the batch?

What are your top ten angling books?

Conveniently ignoring the ask to name 10. Currently reading this which has hefty chunk of pages dedicated to Barbel behaviour and location:

    JB Taste F2 basemix

Agreed, based on my limited knowledge. Hence wanting to choose and stick with something proven until I have enough confidence in other aspects of my fishing.

    Hooks.

I’ve been looking at the Pallatrax Gripz Wide Gapes. But will add those above to my list as well for investigation.

    JB Taste F2 basemix

I’ve bought a few of the pick n mix sized flavours to try with it so we’ll see how it goes before I make a bigger commitment financially.

    JB Taste F2 basemix

Interesting feedback. Many factors involved of course and if there was one ‘do it all’ bait then of course we’d all be using it. I just want to be confident and stick it out with something proven for the first few months of the season (at least)

    JB Taste F2 basemix

As we approach the start of the season I’m in the process of nailing down my bait choices for the warmer months. Going down the JB route after seeing a recent thread on here. Anyone else specifically using Taste F2?
