How far down do the barbel go Alan? My mate and I watched the weigh in after a match a month back and saw some half decent bream go back. None of them gave any credit to barbel being present? That said, it was one of the most appalling sites I've seen in angling, they had absolutely no regard...

I deliberately lifted slightly to get the best view of the fish, we kept urging Kev to tilt the fish toward the camera a little more but he was reluctant as he (quite rightly I think) was worried about his grip on the fish with his shaky hands.

This one was taking crouched down as close to the same level as I could get to Kev considering I am significantly taller

Get yourself a defender!!!! Since buying my first about a year ago, I wouldn't be without one. You can drive it in mud covered wellies, it will get you just about anywhere, you can wash them out with a hose, you can maintain it yourself really cheaply, they are easy to modify for storage...

I have one and it's great - can't recommend it enough!!!
