    Photos of river scenes

A rainy day on the Royalty from a couple of weeks ago,.. hate being under the brolly but the little robin would have gladly swapped places I suspect.

Had the pleasure of fishing the HAvon with this bfw stalwart a couple of weeks ago. Couldn’t help noticing what a cool dude he looked whilst modelling the latest ‘off-the,-shoulder’ one piece!😁

    Naming stretches.

Hope things are good with you Jamie. I shall try and put a few pics up of the HAvon for you,.. trouble is they look crap when compressed on here,.. well that’s my excuse!

    Naming stretches.

Damian,.. I get your drift but many of those I’ve seen on the banks of the Avon this past week have been enjoying the beautiful Avon valley surroundings and regard a good fish as a bonus. Like many of them I rarely put up pics of fish nowadays but would rather capture the ‘whole package ‘ as it...

British Canoeing launches its clear access charter.

None of this comes as a surprise, .. the boaters/ canoeists have been consistently more proactive than both riparian owners and angling,..... you could probably add wildlife trusts to that as well. Local councils,.. including mine are on a mission to open up rivers to the public on the basis...

    Catch rate

Conditions are good for a barbel at the moment in my neck of the woods,.. but just fish according to conditions,.. don’t get tunnel vision over one species.

    Work parties

You could introduce a work party levy Mark which could be ring fenced for fishery management. Problem with that is it may cause resentment from some and would also lead to members turning up when they’d rather be elsewhere which is just a waste of time. We have weekly work parties and have a...

Question for the rod action/build experts?

Can’t see it makes much difference Neil,.... if you test the action of a rod, pressure is applied from the tip. I would have thought that when a rod is bent round at full t.c. one or two of the eyes would be almost redundant towards the tip end as they would be pointing towards the fish? I’m...

    Bite alarms past and present

Haven’t much use for alarms nowadays so haven’t really kept up to speed with what’s new. I started with a pair of Herons then brought hi and low tone optonics around late 70’s which served me well,... still got them tucked away somewhere. Although they were a massive technical step up from the...

    its raining !!!!!

Not a spot of rain at Ensbury,... dogs going apeshit though. Hates thunder.

    Anybody stopped fishing?

The irony Joe, is that some farmers would like to see the return of mechanical weed cutting which would be the equivalent of pulling the plug out of the river and draining the meadows to allow a second silage harvest.
