    Trotting for barbel

Some of my best days fishing both D.Stour and HAvon for barbel have been with the float. Admittedly this was back when the barbel population of both rivers was higher than present day. If I was trotting ( trundling) meat I would fish over depth,… hold the float back probably using a 5ssg loafer...

    Back in the 80s...

Used Trev’s shop a lot in the early 80’s,.. still got the catalogues somewhere. One of the best sources for rod building gear back in the day. Cheaper South Korean rods put an end to my rod building days but I still ordered pike gear from The Tackle Shop when N.F took over,…. I remember the shop...

A kingfisher in todays morning mist,…. how many times have we anglers seen this sight I wonder,… it’s what made me go out and buy a camera so I could freeze the moment.

Dorset Stour was rising again yesterday,… both me and kingfisher had to abandon our perches. River looked magical in the early mist though,…. levels still rising today.

    Morning Bill. I’m using a Nikon d500 body with either a Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 or Nikon 300mm f4 PF lenses for wildlife,….. for landscape/scenes I use a Nikon d750 with a Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 lens mostly. I’ve also a Nikon d7500 which I like for general photography.🙂📸

    New ruckbag recommendations.

Some weeks ago a few of us were reminiscing about hollow glass North Western blanks ( SS and PK’s etc) on another site. I used to build my own rods from them getting all the gear from TM at The Tackle Shop in Gainsborough back in the late 70’s to mid 80’s. It reminded me of one of my favourite...

    New ruckbag recommendations.

Hi Terry,... I’m a great believer in ‘repair rather than bin’ but I suspect the bag has come to the end of its service,... it’s been a good buy but it’s probably time to replace it.

    New ruckbag recommendations.

Looking for a new ruckbag approximately 40/50 litres capacity to replace my old Korum bag which has lasted for years but the main compartment zip has busted. Im not to bothered about bank stick side holders gimmicks. I’d rather have straps and clips for an unhooking mat etc. Waterproof base...
