    Maggot Feeder Rigs

Drennan Oval blockend feeders some of which I have adapted by adding additional weight to take them up to 4oz, combi rig of 12lb flouro and 16lb braid with a size 16 Gardner Target hook baited with 3 Maggots ;)

Thoughts on Barbel wising up to rigs

I have followed this thread with interest and whilst I don't approve of so called "Grown Men" sniping at each other (pathetic actually) I can see the merit in many of the points raised. I personally tend to use a combi rig and do not generally tinker with my rigs other than to change hook size...

    Whats your PB?

I couldn't agree more Graham, I have never fished a single night for Barbel and have no intension of ever doing so. I personally think that good application of bait and then presentation will catch any Barbel regardless of time of day ;)

    Whats your PB?

10-7 Wye 14-9 H Avon 16-5 D Stour Although very proud of the Stour fish (Throop Record) I have to say that the H Avon fish was awesome as was Chub fishing at the time and landed it on a size 16 baited with two red maggots

2 x new i-powers listed in the BFW shop

I'm not suggesting that BFW are ripping people off but each to their own ;) Either way you will get a fantastic rod 👍

2 x new i-powers listed in the BFW shop

Andy, £340 each 🧐 Really, why? I love my Harrison Barbel rods and have just had them refurbished for £188 the pair but £340 for any fishig rod is excessive IMO, Sorry 😏

Halibut pellets in winter? Boilies in winter?

I use maggots a lot in the winter in clear / cold water conditions and also use boilies on a "sleeper" rod. I don't buy more than two pints at a time generally and they can last a couple of sessions, have a bait fridge which keeps them good for up to a week ;)

    Let's discuss mainline...

On the Avon even a Chub running under a couple of Ranunculas beds can put a lot of pressure on mainlines which was why I switched

    Let's discuss mainline...

Hi Chris I assume you mean 'Infinity Duo' which has a green and black (ish) camo pattern and is IGFA rated meaning that the specifications are accurate for the BS? The 14lb has a diameter of .27 which is quite low for 14lb BS. If so, I used it for several seasons in 11lb then 14lb BS and at...

Each to their own Gerry, I have had no such problems

    Let's discuss mainline...

Hi Anthony Regardless of answers you receive to what is a very subjective question, please drop low diameter as a requirement for whatever your final choice is, as low diameter and abrasion resistance do not go hand in hand 🧐 For the record I use ESP Syncro XT Loaded 15lb BS which I have...

    Braid?

Worth checking your rod rings as well, ceramic rings cut like a razor if chipped ;)

    Calling all trundlers

Really, Maybe I'm just tight but that seems very expensive for some AAA shot, or am I missing something?
  17. Keith Humphreys

    Braid?

Just curious? I have been using ESP Syncro XT Loaded for two seasons and love it but I rarely need to do a overhead cast as all my fishing is within 25m so just wondered what your reasons for disliking are?

    Korum Graphite Brolly Shelter

I recently purchased the Korum graphite shelter and can say it is superb but it is not suitable for those venues where you are perched on a sloping bank. If the river bank is fairly level it is great ;)

    Landing net strap?

Wow guys, all so complicated? I use a Greys deep mesh landing net which has a neat gap in the spreader block. I simply pull the end of the net through the gap and tuck it through itself, job done ;)

    Holdall

Personally I have never understood the need for a rucksack (of any size) as it just makes carrying other things over your shoulder difficult, preferring instead to carry a small (Lidl special) over the shoulder bag, my chair is a JRC Stealth which is very light and has been fitted with a strap...
