hello mark when i fish big lumps of meat i squeeze paste into the gripper lead. has caught me a few . i still hair the meat on a bait spring ( opened up a bit for a bigger chunk of meat) on the wye last weekend i had to use a 5oz gripper, bought t caught fish .

thank you gents . i’ve had 4 fish in 4 chucks on meat ,first a barbs, then decent chub . i’ll give the lobs a go in a mo . and seen a kingfisher 3 times. what a great morning 😊😊

the first river i fished was the chew as well . used to catch huge roach in the park . i think there was a barbel stocking a few years back , i had 3 from the weir last season. i only live a ten minute drive away, so it’s handy .

i think it’s the weather , low water levels and the fish not feeding . I for one had a go first weekend of the season, but i won’t have another go until we get a good drop of rain .
