Kicked off this year's tench campaign on Thursday with a 13.14 mirror on maggot feeder! Stuck to my guns and got my first tench of the year shortly after, a male about 4lbs, then as I was packing away the last rod left in got me this nice fish of 6.13 to complete the day!
Been doing the same without any trouble until last year when they sent letter, took payment and then no licence showed up. Required two phone calls, one at the end of March and another a month later before a 'replacement' licence was sent. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly this year!
Has there been any progress since this? Angling Trust and Environment Agency Launch Review of Multiple Rod Licence - The Angling Trust
It's certainly not going to change for April this year, I've just had my notice that my direct debit of £18 (pensioner rate) will be taken on/after March...
Just back from a day on the Dane, gave the new trousers and socks a test and despite the weather I was having to unzip and remove layers, they certainly are warm!
Been in this morning and picked up a bib and brace, glad I went for the one size up option instead of the medium that I would have normally bought, the large is a perfect fit for me and I'm 5'9" and 34" waist. Also grabbed a couple of pairs of the 2.3tog socks that were on offer at £1.99/pair.
A bit of a tangent but picking up on what Clive said I have taken carp to just under 20lb on a Drennan Tench Float with little trouble, however I have struggled with 7lb barbel on it. A light rod is NOT the best tool for hard fighting fish in a strong flow!
Not been to the Keys with Dave Plummer but used to meet up with him regularly on the river in India back in the 90's when my friends and myself were fishing the same stretch that he was guiding on.
Super helpful bloke and always worked hard to get his clients the fish they wanted.
I have used both the original PP and Slick 8 for my lure fishing in Florida, Slick 8 certainly casts better but I have found both are prone to tangles when casting. Just started using Berkeley Nanofil, this casts just as well but seems to avoid the tangles problem.
Always use a fluoro leader so...
I have the Fox Duo-Lite FX, comes with two legged rings as standard, much better than my previous Greys Prodigy that I was always snapping the single leg rings on.
Don't buy hemp from Titmuss, I got a sack from there late last year and it was the worst I've ever had, very few grains split even after a 2 day soak before cooking. The hemp fromm AA Baits in Warrington was always OK.
That brings back a few memories Neil, the cold hands went when I discovered BMW's, great fairings AND heated grips!
One of my 'projects' as a teenager was to obtain an ex-GPO 125 Bantam and try to convert it into a Bantam racer, never did get completed due to the inevitable girls, marriage...
