If you go on the shimano site you can look at the specs. They love a three let acronym for another system they've dreamt up. Looks like better bearings and something else on the D. And it looks more natty in black and gold of course, that's worth a tenner on it's own.
I once saw a youngster using a baitrunner to play the fish on, he'd flick the switch at the rear and let the fish roar off, and then applied a bit of finger pressure before disengaging the freespool and winding it in for a while, believer that the fish would be warn out, he repeated this a few...
I agree with what Richard said, but dont tell him that... Baitrunners are useful to have - doesn't mean you need to use them every time...
Shimano 4000 & 6000 D reels or thunus if you have cash to splash. If you're only fishing Thames/Trent sized rivers, maybe the medium baitrunner from Shimano.
Drilled bullets from anchor tackle, or Olivettes, available from drennan secured between float rubbers, works a treat. In time you learn how bigger weight for a stretch of water...
I know the stretch well, was full of fish before a fish kill about 15 or so years back. To be fair the chap whose lake they were fishing put his hand in his pocket to pay for of the restocking....
I wonder who told you that? I'm in Newark over the weekend if that's any good to you... £160 with isoblob included... it's got a bespoke handle... cork, but thicker around the reel handle for my organically grown hands.
i have one. It has my name on. Think Bob Gill did it for me, also has an isoblob on the tip.
