I've used X-Line for years. I use 17lb on my carp reels and 15lb on my small river barbel reels. I think its is excellent line but you need to work within its limitations.
It doesn't have great knot strength although its abrasion resistance is ok. But it is very heavy and low in diameter...
Hi
I have a 12ft Drennan Power barbel rod (it is the one with 2lb tc white painted tip complete with isotope and full duplon handle) which is surplus to requirements.
I would like to swop it for a 10 or 11 ft rod with money available if it is a more expensive rod.
I live in Yorkshire...
I'm a big fan of the original neoterics. Still use mine regularly, for zander and floater fishing for carp as well as barbel. I've got the power float in 13 ft and 11 ft (not sure if that's "power") and they are nice rods. Be under gunned for barbel though.
Not quite sure why this thread was resurrected!

I've caught a few specimen fish in recent years but I've never felt the desire to send a report to the weeklies. However, a good pal of mine won the drennan cup in the AT last week with a photoshopped picture and no specifics about where he caught the fish. I caught a river record fish last week...
I was slightly disappointed with the first one. The episodic nature and lack of a narrative theme let it down for me, though of course episodes is what they intended.
Nice filming and production values but it lacked something. Now the Bowler dvds, they really are excellent :)
I have been for years. Pay by direct debit, never even miss the money going out. I've little time for the conscientious objectors but no doubt they will trot their arguments out on this thread, given half the chance.
