It's been rubbish for the last few years - the cod just haven't turned up in any numbers. Sounds like they're in this year though.
Might even dust off the multiplier myself:)
Cheers
Mike
What's next for Jeremy I wonder?
Perhaps it will be the mythical and mysterious monster minnows of Monmouthshire. Or, maybe, the terrifying, toe-grabbing tench of Telford (chaotic underwater film of someone's trouser leg and a swirl of blood in the murky water). Arrghh!
That man has...
Yes, Dinas is a great beach. Fish at the near end and lob underarm into the surf. No more than 10-15yds necessary. Ammo sandeels, ragworm or crab. :) For the bass that is. Further out for the other stuff obviously.
A pal of mine had a mouse living in his car, believe it or not. He was a bit shocked and couldn't work out how the thing had got in there. Then he remembered that he had carried some bags of hay for a friend some months before.....
He was quite happy to have a little friend making its home in...
Good question. And you've got me thinking - the Mersey is full of dabs and plaice. The dabs are there most of the year. I just wonder whether they would make a good bait for the thornbacks and smoothounds we have in the summer?? I think I might give it a go next year. I've seen big cod...
I have never targetted tope from the shore in the north west. I live on the Dee estuary, but I have never heard of tope coming out from the shore (if so, it's a fluke). You have a good shout from the boats in the summer though.:)
If I was to go for tope from the shore in my area, I would head...
My biggest Tope is 26lb and that gave me a good old scrap!
I was wreck fishing for conger out from Amlwch a couple of years ago with a bunch of lads and hooked something, which took a load of line and snapped me in about ten seconds. I was using 50lb class gear.:( The same thing happened to...
'Green' is a much-abused word. Nuclear power is 'green' if you are worried about carbon emissions. Obviously not 'green', however, if you are concerned about the long term storage of spent nuclear fuel. So, from the point of view of the wider strategy of diversifying the energy supply mix, water...
I've not been to Cuba, but I imagine that it might be quite expensive to organise from the UK. If money is no object there are no shortage of links if you google 'Tarpon fishing in Cuba' or whatever.
I have always found that it is much more cost effective if you research the best places /...
I took a couple of days off a few weeks back, in order to do some decorating. My wife was out at a toddler group and I was eating my breakfast looking out onto the patio. To my horror, a large rat appeared and sat casually cleaning itself beside the rabbit hutch.
My wife is particularly averse...
Paul - do these fish scrap?
The first one he hooked looked to fight like a tarpon, but the one he actually landed seemed to come in like a lamb:confused:
Fortunately it fell off - it wasn't hooked, it just wouldn't let go of my bait. Amazing colour changes as it sat on the rock next to me. Then it kind of sidled off and slithered back in to the sea. I didn't fancy getting to grips with it - it's head was about the same size as a grapefruit and I...
"Sounds good mate! We should definately plan a trip for April/May as it gives us a good chance of several species of ray aswell as the big Huss, big Bass will be another option! That's the thing about Angelsey - so much to go at - i love it!"
:)
I would go as late in spring as you are able. Only...
Guys, pm me when you get something planned and I'll come along if I can. In the meantime, if I can help with anything at all, then pm me.
Kind regards
Mike
Hi Simon, Anglesey is indeed a lovely place, especially when the sun shines:D.
I suppose Oxford is an awkward place to live if you fancy a bit of sea fishing. There's some great cod fishing on the south coast in the winter and the Bristol channel, with it's winter sport, isn't too far away...
