Agree Alex, Berkley Nets are good quality. Had dozens over the years, broken more than most but have had two for a number of years now - The Middy IQ Strong Arm for Barbel and a Berkley 42" for Pike/Carp. The Middy gets used far more and is bombproof, the Berkley gets used every winter and has...
Is this an annual thing? :D https://barbel.co.uk/site/vbulletin/forum/barbel-talk/6730-middy-30-plus-camo-xs-landing-net.html
We told you last year which one to get John! ;)
Thinking back to when I joined BFW in the days of the 'old' forum a lot of the stuff being discussed on the river reports was related to water conditions, particularly river level, falling/rising etc. The EA river level site has pretty much done away with the need for such questions so perhaps...
And never outside of that 50 yard stretch? I think most are travellers, some more than others. The Ribble record fish used to make up to a dozen appearances from one particular area during each season leaving many to believe it was resident there. The same fish, each season, would make one or...
Always a feeder. Personally I wouldn't use scalded pellet in a cage feeder - the pellets expand as they take on more water and can get stuck in the feeder only emptying when you wind in or a fish takes which results in the feed being spread all over the river. Much better to feed dry pellets...
Good posts Ian with sound reasoned argument. My preference for the 10-11 size stems from my preference to smallish baits and the rivers I fish are fairly open water with little in the way of weed beds or overhanging trees. The majority of the Barbel are fairly modest sized fish with most coming...
It's the modern way Simon! I was going to have a dabble this morning but just realised I haven't ironed my unhooking mat. :o
Tony - Seriously, I deliberately put bits of boilie into my tackle box/bag so everything stinks. This season I have been mostly smelling Krill.
Was attached to a 4m net handle at the time Dave, awkward swim, steep slope with a 4' drop into 3' of water. Knew it well so had no hesitation in jumping in after the fish which was retrieved and released. Could have been a lot worse - there are some swims on these north west spate rivers I...
Lovely fish Paul. Not been to the coast for a couple of years and that pic brings back very fond memories. Would love to get back out there but not likely any time soon with our 2nd child due any time now. Maybe next year. :)
There's definite variation in quality of the Chinese's up 'ere Dave!
Probably the best option if you want full protection, even the korum total protect ones bend easily.
At the end of the day you have to ask yourself if you bought a fishing rod or an ornament. Bob's rods are works of art...
My top money saving tip would be to forget the pigeon conditioner, hemp and all that, don't feed them anything! A single bait in the right spot will catch summer or winter, the trick is to find those spots. By adopting a roving approach and moving every 15 to 20 minutes you will soon find where...
