The two I ordered arrived this weekend and I'm seriously impressed. Better quality of finish than I expected for the money and whilst one spins slightly better than the other it matters not as I suspect all it needs is a little oil, but that one can be my ledgering / barbel reel. The other...
You lot have made my mind up for me and I'm definately gonna get one, though at that price I could get two and keep one for trotting and the other spooled with 10 or 12lb mono for barbel legering and carp float work.
I've got my 40th birthday in March and was contemplating an expensive pin...
Not a bad half hours watch for a Tuesday evening in November. What a fish that Goliath Tiger is.
Shame he lost it but in a way nice that the whole village would of got a meal out of it.

Snakehead.
.............................. I'll get my coat.
Happens to me reguarly on the Thames when fishing meat and I've always been told it's eels. Mouths to small to take a big lump hence the bites out of a chunk. Logical.

Thanks for the tips Andreas, all sound advice.
I think the key is to travel light, obviously. It's not till you scale everything down that you realise how much unecessary stuff we carry around with us normally. A couple of spots I've been targeting recently have time limited or awkward...
Give me strength......................... Mr Wilson, and you Mr Durrant.
Crooky, if you'd of seen what I've seen lurking in the depths ( or in this case just under the surface ), but well off the beaten track, you'd be strapping stuff to your bike. That or get dropped in by helicopter...
Anyone use a bike to get to the river these days ?
With so much of my local Thames ( and Jubilee river ) inacessible by car ( or a very long walk ) I figure it's got to make sense to reach spots I'd not normally get to.
Moreover, does anyone use a trolley attached to their bike to help...
Love my Abu's for trotting or short / light waggler work.
I have a 505, a 506 and a 501 which I use most of the time. It's probably as old as I am and still works like new, love the ting of the pick up pin disengaging when the centre button is pressed, great sound !
Also own a 1044 and a...
All the best to you and the missus Paul.
Extraordinary coarse fishing for you to get your teeth into in the states and we'll look forward to hearing all about it.
Pleased and privileged to have known you. Lots of happy memories in terms of the social's, curry nights, Christmas bashes...
Congratulations to you both, wonderful.
Best of luck to all BFW'ers over the opening weeks. Here's hoping for a better season than last on the Thames !!

Have seen them, had considered them as I'm in the market for new barbel rods but if I'm honest I dislike the 12'' dolly butt section which extends the length of the rod. It doesn't fit well, or at least just looks wrong as it leaves two visible gaps in the blank where it joins. I'm sure they...
Spent this evening rigging the rods and sorting through my ruck with the Italian game on in the background and the missus out for the night - heaven :p.
Boilies air drying and a pot of hemp simmering in the garage, I do believe I'm as good as ready, though I can't find my rod rests .

Has to be Crocs or similar.
I love them, now own three pairs, though my originals ( bought some 4-5 years ago ) are still going strong. I even use a pair as house slippers to replace my old manky sheep skins.
They keep your feet well aired and as Howard said you can wade in them, perfect for...
Thought the Wye would be mentioned.
Begs the question, which is the least healthiest river and which river has seen the biggest recent decline in health / form say over the last 5 years ?

7am start time , not exactly prime time viewing !
Oh well, saves buying the remaining dvd's.
D.
Sorry Dave, we must of posted at the same time. 7am is proper daft though, better than not at all I guess !
I'm gonna fish prebaited swims in rotation in an attempt to draw and hold fish ( carp as well as barbel ). Don't worry, this will be on the Thames rather than a smaller river where this approach could back fire by over feeding and 'hacking off' anglers on the same stretch. I need to do...
