    crayfish

They are filth, bought over here seeded and deliberately spread by people for gain, there is no way of stopping them while they are being carted around in buckets and introduced to rivers without them, EA would do well to start examining premises of people with trapping licences IMO. Allowing...

    Barbel, lake Geneva /Rhone.

Mike, funny you should say that, no i didn't see any traps but i did have a plate of little Perch on the waterfront at Montreux, stunningly beautiful looking across the lake to the Alps, Perch were delicious. Dan, couple of the fish i saw were well into double figures but could never really...

    Barbel, lake Geneva /Rhone.

A few years ago i spent a few days in Geneva with my wife, one day whilst looking off one of the bridges where the river exits the lake i spotted a group of Barbel, some pretty big, anyone have any idea what type they are ?

    The breakaway lead thread debate.

We net anything that warrants it Darryl, 3-4 ft hooklength ensures the lead is always away from the fish and outside the net.

You're sorted then Dan ! See what you can pick up in one of their garage sales ! i used to do the housing maintenance at Upper Heyford when it was still operational, we used to get all sorts of stuff off the lads who were being shipped home, still got several pairs of trousers and thermals...

So, do we ban multi trebled lures for Pike while we're at it ? Now those DO double hook very regularly around the eyes/head.

Course your still going to want an early morning cuppa and bacon sandwich so that means you have stove, kettle, frying pan, water, food etc to lug around all day as well :) but better than a bloody bedchair and bivvy that weighs a ton and for overnighters you can easily do without.

    The breakaway lead thread debate.

Lots of 'Potentials' and i'll bet not many actual occurrences ? Personally i've used breakaways for more years than i care to remember for uptiding for Smoothounds, Bass etc ( the former all go back ) and i've NEVER seen a fish damaged by one, not saying its impossible but as long as a hooklink...

Aah, a voice in the wilderness :) Had Mitchell 410, 300, 810, Abu 54, 55 57, loads of plastic things from Shimano and Daiwa and NOTHING comes close, worth every penny if you can find one.
