    Decent banksticks

Dinsmores every time, don't give a monkeys if the paint falls off or not, Barbel don't care. Plenty of trendy proper Aluminium bank sticks with nice anodised finishes but in the main too short (Carpers like having their rods down in the mud).

    tie a loop In braid

When i tested various knots a few years back i found that the Double overhand loop was actually stronger than the figure of eight, in heavy mono the later forms a neater straighter loop but for all else i use a bog standard double overhand and have never had one let me down. This is with Braid...

Something to sit on when roving

Steve, the mud on Castle Howard would have rendered kicking anything along the bank impossible mate ! Do i wish i was still up North ? There's a lot i miss to be honest, but then again we are very happy where we are nowadays. My memory is rubbish Steve, do i know you ? Mike, we live on top of...

    Light quiver rod slim built?

OOh they were very nice rods, remember Andy Harman and a few other 'Big hitters' swearing by them ! Nowadays, Tri-cast make some fantastic feeder/quiver rods, costly but very nice.

    Butt length below reel

Buy them and cut a bit off the handles Stephen ! thats what i did with my Chimeras.

    Butt length below reel

Its not just as simple as it seems though is it ? The way a rod balances and feels with a reel on surely is an important factor ? i've had 12 ft rods with short handles that have simply felt dreadful to use ! So maybe tip to reel stem is a relevant issue too, and that will be different from one...
