    Best pellets

I use the Vortex frankfurter spice or dynamite garlic 8mms on my Severn trips…seem to work well for me

    Bait again!!!

IMO anything a carp will eat so will Barbel…as long as it’s presented well and the fish are feeding. Some days they have a preference for a certain type of bait, when they are feeding well on casters/hemp they’ll likely ignore a lump of meat or it’ll scare them off! I’ve done well in the past on...

    Terry Eustace passed away.

I remember something he wrote stating he sourced/produced tackle primarily for his own use so he had complete confidence in what he was using….and it certainly was quality gear!

    Terry Eustace passed away.

Sad news indeed. He was certainly a character. ProGold was one of the best lines ever released IMO

    Storm sticks/banksticks

Cheers all…sorted now with some Gardner ones I found in a local shop - Dinsmore ones looked good but I’m not a fan of screw tips

    Storm sticks/banksticks

Any recommendations for long extending sticks (40 - 70” ish), I want ones that are a thick diameter…and more stable in a strong current, currently using Dinsmores but need some new ones. Think I’ve seen NGT ones mentioned before but never seen them

    Feeder fishing a deep weir?

As you’ll probably know weirpools can be snag pit, especially the deeper holes where the snags (and fish) will settle. So if it was me I would spend a bit of time leading about and seeing where the flow takes different sized leads to get an idea of where to place a lead/feeder of a certain...

    New Normark Rods

Not taken as one Mike; I’ve done the same and sold then re-bought tackle after regretting it….so now the amount of times I list something to sell then think nah is ridiculous!

    New Normark Rods

Boys toys Mike, at least it is for me! I don’t need anymore rods but it won’t stop me buying and using them because I get pleasure from it. I work hard enough for the money, don’t go out drinking or smoke or run a flash car, so if I can afford it why not? I guess others will all have their...

    New Normark Rods

Are there plans to develop a 15ft avenger?

    New Normark Rods

Had a play with the whole range today in my local, quality rods all of them. The Avenger feels a lovely balanced powerhouse of a rod, and the 2ft dolly section does not appear to compromise its action. When I first Handled it without a reel it felt a bit unbalanced and tip heavy but after...

New rods wanted. C3’s vs basis vs mark tunleys dark carbons any info on these 3 please pros and cons.

I have a pair of cheap Korum 13ft 2.5Ibs big water rods I get out on the odd occasion I’m fishing the Trent/severn in a raging flood and need to chuck out 6oz plus…at £45 each I’m not worried about them and they do the job of getting the fish in quickly, tbh I don’t enjoy the scrap of a barbel...

    Nash baits cease trading

Saw a post on Instagram earlier stating nashbait is being closed so they can concentrate on the tackle brand. They have produced some cracking bait in the past the most recent being the TG Active a few yrs back, but I sort of feel that side of the company has gone gradually downhill in the last...

    New Age Of Barbel Fishing

I don’t see it, at least not on my waters. Quite often on the Ouse and Severn stretches I fish there are very few anglers, midweek I’m often the only one there. The Trent stretches I fish are admittedly more popular but still not what I’d call busy. In my opinion it’s just the summer months hat...

    Thoughts on Block end feeders.

Short bit of pole elastic tied between one end and feeder works fine. They don’t come out that often if feathering the cast down and not casting to a clip….and it’s enough to with elastic to still quickly change between open/block and not lose the part

    Thoughts on Block end feeders.

Exactly what I do…but of camo tape around middle section. If it is a swim with a pretty rapid flow I also put a small amount of sticky groundbait at ends with pellets/casters/hemp or whatever in middle…I’m pretty confident this allows a little bit of time for feeder to hit deck without losing...
