I had a few hours on a still water today, the water contains some quite nice chub, but also some very imaciated ones. The set up was a pin as usual, 8lb mono straight through to a size 10 hook and a large piece of bread.
I did manage to catch one chub which was as thin as a lat and had a serious...
Yes Jim, I find there is much more chance of the tin type shot pinging off than the lead. I don't really use many saller than no1 so not so many ping off in that size and larger which is ok for me since I literally only use one at a time as a dropper shot below my olivettee.
The anchor double...
Funny enough Jim that thought had crossed my mind also!
I replaced the lead water pipes in our house 20yrs back with blue alkathene/plastic pipes.
Regarding the banning of leads in fishing, will they ban the plastic feeder bodies, method feeder bodies etc also?
Lead does occur naturally.
We all had lead water pipes in our houses for many years, probably millions of homes still have lead water pipes but I can’t remember it ever causing any major health issues.
Why are they so bothered about lead weights in fishing scenarios 🤫.
They knowingly release all kinds of much worse...
I can catagoricly say i've never had any issues with dog muck etc where i've been fishing.
I'm quite positive it would be very visible if there were any on the grass, and if i'm honest i'd be more concerned about getting it on my hands and tackle than the fish. In reality dog muck would not...
So, there is a lot of controversy amongst anglers regarding the use of unhooking mats.
There are anglers who no matter what type of suitable ground is available to lay a fish on they insist on using a mat.
Personally, I am in the frame of mind that the use of a mat is down to commons sense...
I'm going to part with one of the above float rods and thought i'd test the water on here before advertising elsewhere.
The rod is in excellent condition as is all my gear due to me looking after it!
I've used the rod to target barbel, chub, grayling and anything between down to minows.
These...
Here's the advert at benwicks shop for anyone who may be interested.
The price i'm asking is negotiable to anyone interested 👍.
The o ly reason im parting with the rod and will be parting with others also is to fund some other purchases.
Thanks Jim 👍.
Weight wise, I think the rod is kinda on a par with the acolyte plus, so only around the 150grm mark, so its nice to hold in the hand even if having a long days trotting 🙂.
I have a excellent pretty much as new 13ft tricast John Allerton match waggler for sale.
I bougt this rod brand new from a tackle shop and it has been used by myself. On the limited times i've been out and used it i've caught dace, chub, roach, grayling and barbel.
The rod is very light and...
I had a last hurrah trotting a float on the river, and very enjoyable it was to 🙂.
Today was a similar kind of day to yesterday with a quite nasty cold northerly wind and an air temp of 7 degrees upon arrival at late morning which had rose to 9 degrees when I left at about 3.30pm.
The...
Thanks Julian 🙂.
if you mean the line etc, the line I swear by is daiwa sensor and I nearly always use 6lb straight through to the hook. The hook I used today was a drennan acolyte gripper size 12's.
The float is a 4 1/2 gram bolo form Andrew Burt on this forum. I really like Richard Isaics...
