    What bait?🤔

I agree Mike, but I'm not sure that Garlic Spam was any better than today's Spam + garlic (that we might add). I don't see how it can be really. Maybe, when it was first used by anglers on rivers, it caught so well because it was novel to fish. Then there's 'Confirmation Bias' ... in that we...

    What bait?🤔

If you're on the Lower Severn at night and you've got feeding barbel in front of you, then you'll catch (or at least get a take from) using any of the above, plus Severn favourites including Red Robin, Ambush, Questrami, etc etc...or maybe a straight halibut pellet with or without being dunked...

A very chilly Stanford Bridge, with the Teme over the banks and in the trees. Not tempted.

    Ray Walton Centrepins

You're talking about £250-280 in really good condition, and ~£280 for "mint". The rosewood might push that to £300 ... more easily so in May/early June when angler are thinking more about the forthcoming season.

The Lower Severn ....moody? Nah, bloody mean!

So I've finally decided to retire ...

Hatter, it's been repaired three times already but the material is now so wafer-thin that even Wonderweb isn't wonderful enough. Jack Pyke don't supply these anymore but 'Military First' have supplied a good replacement (for £15)....which I'm pleased with.

The top field is head high with balsam etc and not maintained at all. And now there's no longer sheep in the lower fields, and due to massive amounts of flood debris etc, there's very few swims available down there. I'm used to Teme 'jungles', and I love them, but that stretch has all but been...

    Paste and boilie soaks

I used to grind halibut pellets or boilies in a coffee grinder, sieve, grind, sieve, grind ...then add a flavour to mirror my bait's flavour. Now I tend to buy Elips Paste (£7/300g, with multi-buy offer available) and flavour that. If you want to stiffen the paste after flavouring it then gluten...

Korda camo bolt and run rigs,

Yeah, could have been me Jon. I've used them for ~20 years but I've never mounted them as Enterprise recommend. My line goes up the top end of the central bar, then straight down the other end (I don't thread my line around the bar). This was fine for ledgers up to say 14-42grms on the Teme, but...

    Combi rig - This season’s rig nonsense/improvement

That's true ... how 'slippy' the braid is depends of the grade of polyethylene used to make it, and the number of strands within the braid. E.G.. compare Powerpro regular to Powerpro 8.

Korda camo bolt and run rigs,

I totally agree Mike. For cautious carp then maybe*, but for barbel ...nah. And sleeves and booms? I can't remember the last time I had a tangle on casting out a barbel rig (not this decade anyway). I'd suggest any novice, or any seasoned angler that regularly get tangles on casting, uses the...

    Oiling a cork handle

The 'EVA' (ethylene vinyl acetate) is the generic, whilst 'Duplon' is a specific form (i.e. it's a type/polymer/isomer) of EVA. EVA is a 'synthetic rubber' and can be very hard or very soft, and each grade will be produced with a specific or suggested end-use in mind.

    Oiling a cork handle

I'm not one for cleaning rods as they're made so that mud/dirt won't harm them, and the last thing I'd want is to get precious about them on muddy winter banks. They get washed when it rains, and that's it. But .. in the past I have oiled cork handles on some 40+ year old rods. I thought long...

What is the ultimate setup for a long walk?

Sooooo .... it's designed so you can walk around with a stool sticking out of your ar$e. Nice 💩🤔
