Can only see the trend being upwards for all barbel Alex with the increasing number of mild, wet winters.

    Trotting rod

You are never going to find a rod that is great for roach and barbel. You need to decide what you are fishing for Lee. If I am fishing for roach Acolyte Ultra, chub Acolyte plus, barbel Acolyte Specimen.

    Isotopes

Just piggy-backing off this thread, I have a number of isotopes but the clear rubber "tubing" that they fit into before being pushed onto an adaptor has either split or been attacked by mice. Can anybody recommend a specific product that I can buy to replace these perished rubber sleeves? I...

    Acolyte users??

Acolytes are fantastic rods, I love 'em but it's almost an occupational hazard that you will break the tips. Think I'm on my third for the Ultra. The last tip broke trying to cast a big waggler into a head wind

Oh, by the way it would be predominantly the Hampshire Avon although I believe the Wylie joins the Avon at Salisbury

Hi Martin, I don't really know that area but I'm pretty sure the carriers and river are part of the Britford Fishery controlled by London Anglers Association. Look up the Britford fishery info

    Book reviews on Amazon

just thought this was quite interesting. I have been contemplating buying a copy of Eel Chronicles by Steve Ricketts. found it rather interesting that the first seven reviews (all 5/5 apart from one 4/5) were attributed to the following contributors: Mrs. A - 5/5 J D Staples - 5/5 Mrs...

Mike, email Harrison rods. I recently did so asking what the difference was between the Torrix and the MUR (Multi Use Rod). I received an excellent informative response directly from Steve Harrison

    Super strong beaked point hook

Thanks Jim, strong hook but not got the beak point. Used them in the past but on the Hants Avon/Dorset Stour found they needed replacing continually due to the gravel, "dinking" the point.

    Surprise visitor

As we are on the subject, had a simply lovely day roving for chub on the Hants Avon. Sunny all day with temps up around 24 degs. Cattle, horses, swans, little Egret, swifts, peregrine, a duck. Felt privileged to be sharing the river and meadows with them all.
