No idea to be honest. The one I have is a good reel (excepting the lumpy rumble). I’m tempted to buy a beat up one and experiment on that.

A perfect description of my Stanton, lumpy rumble lol. I wonder if material hardness is a factor (although chrome steel & silicon nitride are about the same I think). I guess the tighter tolerance will make the difference.

I’d be interested if anyone has done the same to an Adcock Stanton. Mine runs forever but rumbles like an old locomotive.
