Anglers Mail - John Bailey Article

I appreciate that there are two camps on this debate. I'm siding with the sceptics and agree pretty well what Dave Gauntlett has to say. However, we do need to see the results of the research and the evidence putting under the spotlight. My questions. What is the title of the thesis...

looking at getting 2 new 12ft rods 2.25tc???

I seem to remember Bruce & Walker produced some two piece 13' 23/4 tc hexagraphs. I guess they could still knock them up, probably at a price though! Which reminds me, must commission them to make a pike fly rod. They will do one-offs. If it became a regular selling item I suppose that I...

Anglers Mail - John Bailey Article

That's great news, Ian. Glad to hear that Karen's research has proven that there are no otter issues and that the rivers throughout the country are unaffected. Clearly, the barbel anglers need to freshen up their act as their angling skills have gone awol. I would be interested to know the...

    Tackle manufacture public relations

Sorry Albert, disagree. The above is the way to do it. Where are you going to name and shame? I think that Mic has to row his own boat on this specific one. Unless you have some angling cooperative, you won't have a voice. Certainly manufacturers keep an eye on some sites for example, Cemex...

Anglers Mail - John Bailey Article

I have only looked at a brief summary of the article. If otters are present they will have an impact on fish stocks. How much depends on many factors. This is a potentially massive research product with many unknown variables. With a research project, only one variable can be changed at a time...

    Tackle manufacture public relations

I suspect Mic that you have gone about this issue the wrong way. First of all, you have to be "top dog" in these situations. Don't let the Agent take the initiative. Assuming the rod did not break by accident and it was an inherrent fault. Bamboozle the Agent with words he won't understand...

    if money was no object....

I'm not quite so sure about the gorgeous, pouting, sculptured bottomed Pippa's literally skills. According to the reviews a tad banal! Incidentally, Sir Rannulph is in the loop and he is providing constructive feedback to enable Pippa to publish another book rumoured to be quite a blockbuster...

    Tackle manufacture public relations

In my experience, it can be a culture thing of the organisation, usually filters down from the top and/or as you so rightly pointed out depends who you get hold of on the day.

    Float making equipment and materials

I've never seen a fly-vice quite like that, Clive. Nevertheless an interesting concept.

looking at getting 2 new 12ft rods 2.25tc???

Thanks, Wayne, I'll be a bit more brutal. I just had the horrible feeling that I was going to hear a crack on launching to the far horizon. At least if it does break then I'll have an even better snag rod than my truncated hexagraph.

    Stolen Gear

Condolonces have been said by many others. One obvious comment, whoever took the stuff knew that it was there. Think back, it just might yield a clue, was it on show when you had the door open or has work been done for you? Are there any pubs in the area where you could put the word about...

looking at getting 2 new 12ft rods 2.25tc???

Some very interesting posts with lots of opinions. I have fished the Trent and there is a heck of a tow on it and I feel something like 4oz close in and anything betwee 6-8oz further out. I've also considered break out leads but a bit worried in case they somehow spear a hooked fish. I have...

    Christmas wish list

I thought this post was to be a fishing tackle wish-list. As usual it has strayed off the point completely. My wish would be a nice plump bird for Xmas day, any variety. Secondly, for contributors on this Forum to be nice and show more respect to each other. My tangible wish would be to have...

    Zippo Hand Warmers

Much has been written about tainted hands, even going back to Mr Crabtree mentioning to Peter, the problem associated with his pipe tobacco tainted hands. Crabtree was a cad and it wasn't long before Peter, who looked up to his dad, started on fags. One of the best match fishermen ever, Ivan...

Are you ONLY a barbel fisherman, or do you turn your hand to other species too?

Ian, it might help if we kept to the point of discussing fishing. There are other forums more suited to motorcycling. Not that I have anything against motor cyles, as long as they are proper ones. The Sinclair C15 was a fine bike but a little too low to the ground for my liking. Bantams were...

    Zippo Hand Warmers

Although the Pyke item seems very well priced, it is not a Zippo, similarly with the aptly named Peacock. Do these other brands have a lifetime warranty? Personally, I would find it a bit embarrassing to bring anything else but a Zippo out of my trouser pocket. Zippo also have a discrete matt...
