I wouldn't pay too much mate, that's a lot of monies worth to leave in the mud up The Somme !!
Decent walking boots all day, every day as far as I'm concerned !!
Pretty good post Roger.
I'm pretty sure that Supplex is meant more as a Match Style line and aimed at float fishing ? Although I could be getting confused with another line.
For Barbel fishing mainline, go for something tough and 'Traditional Monos' tend to suit this category better.

I have a Drennan Series 7 Float Reel and for the limited time I've used it, it seems a nice reel. The clutch is pretty irrelevant to me, as I very rarely use one whilst trotting.......
The Roach at Britford are stunning !! As are the Dace !! Great venue and good value day ticket.
Saw the biggest Bream I've ever seen in the Old River below the sewage outfall, absolutely huge !!
Certainly a VERY big Eel, but not sure it's that big !!!
I will say no more as I have no experience of REALLY big Eels !!
Steve Terry's fish still looks ENORMOUS !!!
My two-pennarth for what it's worth :-

I've often wondered if Barbel would take them, tried and never had a touch on them......I am led to believe that big Chub are partial to them !?!?
As an aside, do crays take milk protein baits as readily as meaty ones ?? I've never tried them on a river with crays in..........
Exactly Mark !!
If I were THAT desparate I would set up a swim or 2 above him and fill it in..........
However, it all reality, I would walk on and fish elsewhere........
If you drop in opposite someone already fishing I'm afraid you should expect the inevitable !! As I've said I wouldn't move...
Adrian, please stop trying to be provocative !!! I am a very reasonable person and if I walked to my favourite swim, only to find someone else there, I may mumble 'balls' or words to that effect under my breath, I may even exchange pleasantries with comments to enquire as to how he was getting...
Silly bickering here lads !!!
The truth of the matter is that probably 90% of us would've told him to go forth !!!
Ok he has 'the right' but that doesn't make it right.........
What I would've said to him would have me moderating myself !!! Would I have moved ? No chance !! He'd have moved 1st I...
