Skeetex wellies are probably the most dangerous item of fishing footwear ever invented !! Avoid unless the banks are very good and you don't need to walk far !!
I don't like wellies anyhow, so for me a good pair of walking boots is the best option. Also very lucky not to suffer with cold...
IMHO, the Trafford Angling Tripod is an overrated bit of kit, too easily pulled over by a 'Smash Take' and in general unstable.
Its a shame that they've gone under though as their service was very good.........
I love Britford !! It's by no means an easy water and the conditions need to be right (I've fished it when it's been HARD), but it is a fascinating place and really does have something for most anglers.................
Nice wind proof fleece, body warmer and some under layers.........hand warmers in pocket, job done !!
Mind you I'm lucky in that I don't feel the cold too much !!
I've fished venues where 8ozs is needed under the rod tips !!
Admittedly, more due to the Chaff coming down than anything else !! And yes we caught !!!
If you know Clive as well as I do then that Landing Net Handle must be pretty special for him to keep it all these years !!!
As far as sentimental value goes, my Dad's old Swiss Army Knife, which has a Tortoiseshell outer in place of the traditional red one is totally irreplaceable !!!
My I-Powers...................
And my 3m Power-stretch Landing Net Handle.......
Finally, my Fox 13-15ft Match-Master Rod......
Oh and the Old School Shakespeare Telescopic Landing Net Handle I have which has the joints built up with Araldite........My float fishing net handle of...
Avoid the Fox Stratos reels !! Great reels let down by poor build quality........
Shimano 5000GTE's for me, bought 2nd hand off eBay, ok I've had them serviced, but think they'll last me as long as I am fishing !!
I'm surprised he managed to out run it Graham !!
In all seriousness I'm not keen on snakes and wouldn't have been hanging around long enough to see if it was an adder or not !!
As far as the good old days blah blah blah go, yes it's a real shame that the likes of Malc, Tommo and Huw etc etc no...
As we've always said :- Lively, considered, reasonable debate is always welcomed.
Being confrontational for the sake of it is not !!
I use FB to keep I touch with old friends (who I should see really), am a member of a few single species groups on there and do partake in a bit of Mickey taking...
Some good replies from the likes of Graham and Howard etc.
The biggest problem with 'debate' on forums of any kind is that you will always get people who seem to be confrontational and controversial for the sake of it, whilst not always actually contributing anything to the majority of threads...
I didn't like it, but then angling is a very hard thing to portray on film. John Bailey is not great in front of the cameras and I felt that it didn't really show what angling is all about !
Passion For Angling will always be the benchmark. I thought that Catching the Impossible was a well...
As far as I'm aware they no longer do them............Believe there are some lurking in the bottom of my freezer, but they are probably getting on for 6-8 years old..........Might as well chuck them really...............
