I’m 6’3”, the Drennan is great. There isn’t much room under the River brolly although my Korum lightweight chair is that low to the ground i get away with it (just!). I find myself standing up most of the time in all weather with just my gear under it, think it’s because the chair is that low i...
I do agree that a sudden change in any conditions put most fish off and will start to feed after a few days in almost any condition as long as its steady. Also yes, a rise in level due to warm water would be great as apposed to melting snow water etc
I’ve always fished rivers (mainly the Severn but occasionally , the Wye & local Dane). For years, if planning a trip i’ve looked for a tinge of colour after high water and trying to catch it falling to expect the best success ( in general & usually stick float fishing for any species). Barbel...
I’ve got both & use both at different times. The Drennan is (obviously) bigger (& slightly better quality)if you can get away with it but the River brolly is also good for when the banks are steeply sloped, space is tight and you’ve got to carry long distance, although i’ve also added storm pole...
keep hearing people mentioning using 1/2 a tin as one bait!! 🤪 are you REALLY using baits that big??? I usually use a 1” square piece on a hair or a 3/4” punch to cut out a (round) piece about 1” long……🤷♂️
Big bream caught by design are awesome (IMHO!) and although seem plentiful nowadays are still a reasonably rare fish. I’ve had plenty of nuisance carp (to 32lb) whilst fishing for them! Would have a 13lb Bream over a 30lb carp any day of the year!!
Just for interest, i normally buy Berghaus Goretex jackets for fishing (Cornice) & over the years have noticed them getting worse, quality wise. The last one cost £170 (they last about 5 years) and although waterproof, is really thin material and saturates when wet. Doesn't let water through...
Don’t use the Korum ones, in my experience they scratch your rods!
I find, Like most Korum stuff , great ideas but not quite right. Either falls apart or doesn’t quite do the job which is a shame :(
Enterprise have the soft inner that grips & protects the blank
Sonubaits Pellet O’s were part of my spicy sausage campaign but not sure if i remember getting a bite on one! The leaking dumbells caught me a few chub though
I’ve got a pair of the Guru twin tip 1.75’s. I bought one to use as a distance feeder rod for bream on Windermere. I liked it so much i bought another to use as a pair for Barbel. To be honest, i’ve used & had loads of rods over the years and these are up there with the best!
They’ll chuck 4oz...
Went all out on my local River Severn using spicy sausage flavoured boilies, pellets & groundbait last year and caught loads of decent Chub- not a single Barbel!
Most of my sessions seemed to take place in a heavily coloured & flooded river due to the amount of rain we had last year and it wasnt...
