    The state of our rivers

My faith in this government may be lower than yours Stephen. This government is not good at producing anything concrete - see announcement of funding for social care with no actual plan of any substance. So, if the government have gone to the effort of providing a waiver to any water company...

    Frustrated on the the trent

Try the Phoxinus meat coils (or any other make you can find) for mounting the spam. I really like them - except when they get stuck in your landing net mesh - that is a pain in the arse.

    Rip ian Macmillan

I didn't know Ian but this is very sad news and I offer my condolences to his family and friends. Unfortunately the NHS don't offer screening for Bowel Cancer until 60 (although they are aiming to reduce this to 50 over the next few years). Its worth getting it done every year when you qualify...

    Chris Packham

I have less of an issue with people criticising his views - although I respect the views he has - but more of an issue with criticising him in relation to manifestations of his disability - its a bit like mocking someone with polio who walks with a limp. However, I concede that many people...

    Reel Repairs

The Penn Lliveliner freespool mechanism isn't working on the Penn reel. I had a look inside and am pretty sure there is at least 1 part (maybe 2) missing - possibly removed by previous owner who said he had inactivated it. The Shimano I can't even get into because one of the screw heads is...

    Chris Packham

Many of the aspects of Chris Packham's 'personality' traits which have attracted criticism in this post are actually typical indicators of someone on the autistic spectrum. Chris Packham has a disability which he largely manages to overcome in order to have a successful TV career, live a...

    Reel Repairs

I have a couple of fixed spool reels which need repairs which are beyond my ability. One is a Penn Slammer Liveliner 460 and the other is a rare Shimano Twin Power - I don't want to bin either of them but I don't know anywhere to get them fixed and haven't found anywhere in my trawl of the...

    Rods for Sale

In my defence I may be selling a rod with a varnished cork handle but I didn't do the varnishing and never would. I have investigated and it is possible to sand it off and apparently deet mosquito repellent does a very good job of removing varnish -not tried either of these methods myself. I...
