    I’ve used plenty of different braids over the past twenty years and the one I’m using now is spiderwire smooth, I’m swapping over to it on my barbel rods, the dia is thin but I’ve found the knot strength is brilliant

    I don’t know if I over gun it but I use 65lb powerpro which has a dia of .41 which is about equal too 20lb mono and with the rig tube I’ve never lost a rig through abrasion on rocks and pulling out of snags is easier

    I use two diawa powermesh 2.75 for the Trent to make sure I get them out a quick as possible and two of the same rods in 1.75 for the small rivers

    That’s all I use, it’s not very forgiving but if you set your clutch right it’s fine, I always put about 12” of rig tube just above the hooklink to stop it rubbing on rocks

    Does anyone think the same as me, when I get too the river and look for a swim I always make sure I don’t go anywhere near any other angler who’s on the bank side even if he’s near the swim I want too fish, if it’s too busy I’ll go elsewhere and definitely don’t go a peg down stream of them...

    No word of a lie I’ve just started back barbel fishing after about 15 years away predator fishing and I had a tub of halibut pellets covered in halibut oil in the fridge (outside in the shed)all this time, I’ve been using them over the last few months with no problems and I’ve had nice fish on...

    Last tues night I got both rods wiped out by a tree and lost some bits off one of my reels there old Shimano dl 10000 ra’s so I’m looking to replace the spool so if anyone has one laying around give me a shoutplease.some pictures of the reel, got my Pb shortly after so it wasn’t that bad 😂
