D. But just out of interest, Have you considered Shimano DL 4000 baitrunner. Front drag, slightly spool and a double handle. If you're fishing smallish rivers it probably all the reel you ever need. Doesnt suffer the line round the back of the spool issues of the more pricey aero either.
When i bought mine, i got the EU model which came with a sensible handle, and a second option which is what you see on the adds on ebay and alike. the EU handle is fine and more in line with what you get on a 4000D.
Another vote for Thunnus. but it's tricky getting any rare Shimano since the pandemic shut them down for months. I used A&M Angelsport, great to deal with.
It's great for a combi rig when you want to ensure your hook length is nailed to the deck. There's a US line called Seagau or something like that, mainly found in 'game' shops. but it's excellent.
Nothing wrong with old bait as long as it smells okay, you've kept it air tight, it should be just fine. IMO it's people in the bait business who bang on about bait freshness more than most....
25 years ago Daiwa did the AKN series, the 116 being the best thing i've ever found for rolling meat, or light pellet fishing. Terrific progressive bend. Light as a feather. Their modern rods i've never been tempted by. The Free Spirit Hi S barbel is fantastic, no two ways about it. Am...
Actually - i just remembered i have a 11ft 2lb version too that Bob built me, has a different action and feel to it. And definitely a much thicker blank.
The highest compliment i can pay the 11ft 1.75 variant is that it's the most similar rod I have to my Daiwa AKN116, which is the best light...
Just to add a thought. I really didnt get on with the 12ft 1.75 torrix, had a pair built Sir Tunley, sold them. Got him to build me an 11ft 1.75tc torrix, love it. Especially great for rolling meat, or light pellet work. Free Spirit Hi S Barbel for when i need something with a little more...
My limited experience of the Trent suggests there's quite a few fish already in the river. Surely 4000 fish could be better used elsewhere, or am I missing something?
Perfect response from the AT. Doing a great job and I hope the last year or so has proved why all anglers should be members, with a direct debit in place so it just auto-renews.
you take better care of your landing net handle than you do of yourself...
Another vote for the tackle box one, though it also requires the occasional clean.
