Thanks guys,
Not sure why I worry so much, I can't even catch a Barbel out the W.Avon so there nothing wrong with a plain mono hooklink but it gives me something to play around with while I'm blanking 😂
Forgot to point out I don't use combi rigs with regards a mix of fluoro and braid, my hook lengths are always straight braid (coated or uncoated)
Will have to try some 18lb Supernatural. I quite like Korda stuff. I'm guessing the Slip D braid might feel like the Basix and Drennan Gravel braid...
Hi all,
What's everyone's choice for braid when it comes to hooklinks?
I've tried the following: Korda Supernatural in 25lb (18lb was out of stock) Korda Basix, Drennan Gravel braid, Korum micro braid.
The Supernatural seemed quite thick? And when cut it frays quite easy, the Gravel braid and...
Last time it was my catapult I forgot and I nearly put my shoulder out trying to reach the far bank
Again I switched gear when there was nothing wrong with what I was using and the new Korda rucksack I bought is rather uncomfortable
I went out around 3pm, you couldn't even get into the car park at Barton on the W.Avon, young lad told me Fladbury was even worse and looked like a car park (I never fish Fladbury though)
I headed off to another stretch, 2 cars parked, river nice and quiet. Very low and clear so I had a walk...
I wish my stretch of the Avon looked like that, all I could spot on Thursday were a few tiny Perch in the margins. Looked like everything else had vacated, probably in preparation for me turning up! 🤣
Yep, I wanted a Tamer for so long but then started reading about their softness. I had a quick waggle of one and was sold but then a day or 2 with it at home and I quickly realised it wasn't for me.
Odd though because I have one of the latest Drennan 1.5 Specimen rods and when loaded it's a...
Noticed they were selling the Korum 2 rod slim quiver for £11 too.
It's a difficult one, on one hand that price is an absolute steal but then the independent stores, and I have a good friend who runs my local tackle shop, absolutely cannot compete with those prices if they have any in stock so...
I've bought and sold so many rods now trying to find the one I like the most it's ridiculous.
Managed to see a FS Barbel Tamer in person and thought the 12ft 1.75 was the one so quickly ordered one. Couple of days with it at home and didn't like how soft it was, up for sale it goes.
So now I...
I have the Supalite mat, perfectly padded enough to protect a fish I've just stuck a hook through it's mouth and dragged out the water. Fast mat is nice to have the sides to stop fish sliding away and the padded base is even thicker.
4 years use now and still in perfect condition. No metal...
Sudden change of circumstances means I need to sell my brand new Barbel Tamer
12ft 1.75 version with the 3oz quiver tip and 1.75 Avon top
Only arrived on 15/05/2025, as new and film still on handle. Purchased from the Tackle Box Dartford.
Pricing at £140 to try and sell asap
Collection only...
The guides are probably are the same, I have a Guru dual tip specialist 1.25 and that has larger rings fitted than my new 12ft 1.75 Barbel Tamer
The blanks are probably very similar too with only a 0.5lb difference but you should feel the extra power come in lower down the blank on the heavier rod?
Nowt wrong with EOS barbel, good enough for Bob James in the Dynamite baits videos
I have gone through A LOT of rods and have finished on a Barbel Tamer. My £50 korum rods did everything I needed for 4 seasons or so and I almost went back to them. Whilst nice, these Tamers are gonna blank just...
Barbel Tamers. They were on my list for a long time but I put off getting one due to reading that they were a bit soft.
Today by luck, I got to have a look at the 12ft 1.75 and it's lovely! So light and exactly what I've been looking for. I'm a huge fan of 11ft rods and was going to get the...
Turns out they wasn't for sale, they were my mates who runs the shop, he bought them off a customer, it was his day off today and he must have left them there
But glad I went in today, definitely ordering myself one., he isn't a FS dealer so as much as I hate to shop elsewhere I may have order...
I can put to rest if I want a Torrix
Went into my little local store today to get my dad a gift voucher for his birthday and there in the corner were a couple of Blue rod bags. Obviously had to inspect them to see what they were, Barbel Tamers! I've wanted to see one for so long. They were...
Isn't this the current state of most off the shelf barbel rods? They are all like carp rods, even 1.75 versions.
I waited ages for the Drennan to release theirs and then found them just like the Korum versions
I feel most Barbel rods these days are built for Carbelling style and if you want...
