    No passion for angling?

Fishing holds many different aspects for me to enjoy: fishing for various species, with mates or on my own, making bait, buying and trying different tackle, watching stuff online, reading books, walking the river spotting fish, fishing different venues, chatting on forums etc etc etc ….but they...

    Couriers

Last time I sent a rod it cost about £28 to send a 12ft with Parcelforce, was over a year ago and had such a painful experience with them I vowed to never bother again. IMO Alec I would list on here with option to meet somewhere convenient to both parties, you could try with eBay and collection...

    Alarmed!

I have no hesitation to use alarms if the situation warrants it such as nights. Fishing the Severn is always a very active session for me using a feeder or float so easier to remain concentrated without the need for alarms. My sessions on the Ouse tend to be a quite short 3 hrs first or last...

Centerpin reel angling channel on youtube?

Nice informative vid Ian, can see this growing into something special. When season starts get some videos of your tackle in action, feeding techniques and how to read the float as mentioned in this one….seeing it all in action would be very nice 👍

    Dead maggots for trotting?

I had a situation couple of yrs back when I bought a gallon of mags for a trip to the Trent but plans changed and couldn’t go, I gave a few pints away and kept half but no fridge to keep them in. I kept them in tubs inside a large thick walled polystyrene box with a few ice packs. Once a day I...

Centerpin reel angling channel on youtube?

speaking as a centrepin novice the topics I would seek out on various platforms would be: benefits of line coming off the top vs bottom/how to load with line/do I need backing/how much line to put on/playing a fish on the pin/different types of pins pros and cons I would imaging there would be...

    Closed season project.

Good stuff. Once you’ve established a colony of freshwater shrimp (a gravel pit with weed growth will be abundant) the fish will have a constant source of food and very importantly good environmental enrichment for them to keep them busy grubbing about. A weed rake, bucket and a good clean...

Just out of interest Rich what will you be feeding them? I’ve kept Tench and Perch before and can be finicky feeders, but both did well on a diet of chopped worm and caster! The perch also love the occasional live worm…really triggers their hunting instinct

Looks great, it’ll eat into your time with the maintenance but it’s a labour of love. Watching your fish grow is very satisfying
