Had a play with the whole range today in my local, quality rods all of them. The Avenger feels a lovely balanced powerhouse of a rod, and the 2ft dolly section does not appear to compromise its action. When I first Handled it without a reel it felt a bit unbalanced and tip heavy but after...
I have a pair of cheap Korum 13ft 2.5Ibs big water rods I get out on the odd occasion I’m fishing the Trent/severn in a raging flood and need to chuck out 6oz plus…at £45 each I’m not worried about them and they do the job of getting the fish in quickly, tbh I don’t enjoy the scrap of a barbel...
Saw a post on Instagram earlier stating nashbait is being closed so they can concentrate on the tackle brand. They have produced some cracking bait in the past the most recent being the TG Active a few yrs back, but I sort of feel that side of the company has gone gradually downhill in the last...
I don’t see it, at least not on my waters. Quite often on the Ouse and Severn stretches I fish there are very few anglers, midweek I’m often the only one there. The Trent stretches I fish are admittedly more popular but still not what I’d call busy. In my opinion it’s just the summer months hat...
Short bit of pole elastic tied between one end and feeder works fine. They don’t come out that often if feathering the cast down and not casting to a clip….and it’s enough to with elastic to still quickly change between open/block and not lose the part
Exactly what I do…but of camo tape around middle section. If it is a swim with a pretty rapid flow I also put a small amount of sticky groundbait at ends with pellets/casters/hemp or whatever in middle…I’m pretty confident this allows a little bit of time for feeder to hit deck without losing...
Hi Rob, sorry to hear to lost your mojo…hopefully it will return!
Might be interested in the drennan quiver tip if it is for super specialist rods?? Could you ping a photo to WhatsApp 07793070891
Agree regarding the earlier 4010 GTMs, great reels (although got one playing up…be in touch soon @Richard Isaacs ), the only other earlier shimano models that IMO have a smoother fighting drag is the Super X GTM and the Stradic X GTM ….i believe both these models were discontinued after a...
Is it just me or anyone else finding it hard to muster any motivation to get out on the bank in this heatwave? Just can’t get motivated, even for first light…..I’m quite looking forward to getting my winter clobber on and stomping across the frosty fields come winter 🤣
8mm is the smallest I’ve used, mostly 2 at a time but occasionally one. Personally I don’t see the benefit of smaller size pellets on the hook…if I wanted to go smaller bait size I’d be using casters/hemp
I used to like Tony miles articles…mainly the ones of him fishing the Ouse as it was the same stretches I fished. I remember one close season many many yrs ago I followed his advice about doing your pre season leg work spitting fish, finding likely areas and prebaiting; I was feeling really...
I’d wager most acolyte breakages are user error/mishandling etc…..only ever had one of mine break and was my own fault. Yes they have a fine tip but if treated with respect and not bent at any unnatural angles they will last
