Gardner landing net pole/folding pan net

I used the net last season. Great, well made and ‘did the job’ but got fed up with it as awkward to carry. Best was on top of my rucksack but still found it to get in the way somehow. Gone back to a drennan 32” triangle so it fits in the quiver.

    Ground Spike

Easy to walk in. I thought they’d just clog up & hold mud but they dont. No more slip, sliding and i used to get a bad back from constantly tensing up to stop sliding but have learnt to relax now and can even get in swims i’d never have done without them. I can honestly say that i’ve never felt...

    Ground Spike

Been said before but crampons/cleats that stretch over your boots have changed my winter fishing on the Severn! You can get a pair off Ebay for less than a tenner and will be the best tenner you’ll spend!

    I'm finally happy! (New rods)

You should be happy with them. I used them for 3 years & loved them! Did everything i asked and always felt in control. I’ve ‘upgraded’ to FS Tamers in 1.75 and unless i find them better than they feel in the hand when the season starts, i’m regretting it!

36inch rubberised landing net, who’s making them?

Quite good nets from Gerry’s of Morecambe. I tried rubberising my own before getting one but whilst it worked fine, i needed a sherpa to carry it! These are reasonably light 👍

    Hook length material

I’ve found Gardner Target flouro to be good. Been using it for a couple of seasons and had no trouble at all

    New trotting set up.

Sounds like you’re describing one of the Cheshire mere’s i used to fish back in the day. Used to wade out just short of a drop off and fish the waggler for BIG roach & the odd Tench…..totally immersed (in the atmosphere not the water!) & felt like heaven!

    Rain!!

Long range forecasts are giving a good spell of rain/sun from this weekend into June so hopefully we might have a reasonable start to the season 🤞 Not been out during the closed season due to a big project at home so am itching to get going again now i’m free. Was fearing the usual disappointing...

Centerpin reel angling channel on youtube?

Go for it Ian! I’d watch it as i dont watch Carp or match channels and that doesn’t leave a lot! Might even tempt me to have a go!? Always good to see something different but only do it if you’re enjoying it. If it starts to put pressure on you to make content, catch etc pack it in sharpish...

    Reel for waggler fishing

The nicest reel i’ve ever used for float fishing is the Preston Centris 420. Also do a 520 if you need a larger reel. The 420 is similar size to a shimano 4000. Superb, lightweight reels with a spare spool & single/double handle & a lovely, smooth clutch. Great for trotting (for those that use a...

    Wellies

I bought a pair of Dirt Boots (the neoprene type) about 10 years ago and have fished, worn them while mixing concrete and more and they are still going strong. Cheap and comfortable, i would certainly get another pair if i can destroy these! I only bought them for a temporary measure but well...

    Fishernator

OC’ are brilliant and plenty good enough for anything you throw at them. Anything more expensive is just plain posing 😉

    Goog budget barbel rods

I have to agree that the Korum rods are probably the ‘best selling’ but what does that prove? It’s purely a price thing rather than a quality thing imho. They are a good price and they ‘do the job’ but i think they feel more like a cheap Carp rod being used for barbel if that makes sense? Might...

    Goog budget barbel rods

AD are doing the shakespeare Barbel rods for £32. Cheap as chips and probably a better rod than the Korum (deffo no worse)
