The problem is most people haven't got a clue what balanced tackle is. With the right rod you can bully fish in snags with 5 or 6lb line. With a good quality float rod you can exert a huge amount of pressure on a big fish. I have noticed that when playing big fish on very light tackle they...
I have congratulated Keith elsewhere, but well done again anyway.
The fact of the matter is that this capture (as others have said) is merely another great achievement by Keith using his methods. Keith appears to have caught a large number of barbel and chub on what many would consider match...
Just a great reel for the money. Having owned numerous, expensive pins, this reel seems to be amazing value. I bought 2, but haven't had a chance to use them yet.
For the money you can't go wrong. They seem to take very little effort to turn the drum, so for trotting they should be pretty...
I ordered 2 and received one a couple of days a go. It looks brilliant, spins nicely but possibly a tad heavy. We'll see once I've used it for a days trotting. Still its better than spending nearly 200 notes on a spare spool for my BJ lightweight though.
I'm ready for a trip whenever you have time to squeeze me in Perchy. Got some nice bottled ales ready to go.
Cracking fish Will 2.
Off to Britford Wednesday with Spammy and Medway K. Hoping for a few decent g's or a nice dace and hopefully a full English :D
Well there it is then. The first BFW Grayling fish-in north of the border. If we set off now we should be there in time for hogmanay. Crooky you bring the tissues, I can feel a nose bleed coming on already. :)
Ding, ding. All aboard the grayling bus.
WD40 Paul, keeps your rod rings ice free. Well if they haven't had much snow there it may be worth a visit soon before any rain. Sounds like a really good dace that, I know there are some clonkers in there.
We are up to around 18-20 inches of snow now. It's like Siberia here
Well done Paul, that's good going in tough conditions. I phoned Stuart on Tuesday and he told me how low it was, but said it had been fishing well with some decent grayling and dace coming out. We had hoped to go today but as the wind was so strong we had decided to fish the Lea instead...
Get on the Old River Crooky. Don't fish the carrier, I am not aware of any grayling in there. As I said though, the river has to be in good sorts. It is often very high as Stuart pushes the water through to it from the carrier to protect the roach.
If you ever fancy a day there let me...
Having fished Barton Court about a month ago I can only confirm what Paul has stated. It was extremely low and the fishing was tough, to say the least. Four of us fished and we all caught a few fish and some nice ones to boot, but nothing exceptional. Still watching Red Kites all day made up...
Stuart,
You mentioned Salisbury, would that be at Britford. I would say you have as much chance of a 2lb grayling on the old river as you would on the LIF and certainly more chance than at Barton Court. However the river at Britford has to be right to produce, Phone Stuart the river keeper...
