    Season end

Summer & early Autumn river fishing was as good as I’ve known, but the late autumn /winter has been a write off with floods apart from the last few weeks which has been awesome as it is nearly every March I’ve done a lot of pike fishing and again it’s been very hard all winter , with me only...

    Hi s big water , chimera 3 or4

speak to a rod builder? you’re venturing into pike rod territory if it’s an 8oz feeder + content I use X1s for launching say a joey mackerel/ lamprey section and a 4-5 oz lead which will be a similar payload That kind of weight loads the blank perfectly and they are a lovely rod to play fish...

Loss of fish haunting - redemption

Please believe me that I post only because I’m a very average angler who has lots of blanks but occasionally things go right So if it can happen for me, it can for anyone So to conclude the season I returned to the swim I lost several big fish in a week earlier. I had been informed a 12 and a 10...

Loss of fish haunting - redemption

Great story Andrew👍 I had a funny day last Friday Conditions were good but river was a bit higher and pushing harder than I anticipated. Sod’s Law all I’d brought were ‘ chub’ rods , lighter feeders and maggots.Cest la vie. Realised I’d left my brolly behind and a deluge was forecast at noon I’d...

Pallatrax Gripz Match (wide gape, spade end)

Hi Chris I've only used eyed wide gape Gripz. Some positive comments from the Pallatrax website, for what they are worth. https://www.pallatrax.co.uk/product/gripz-match-wide-gape-hooks/

Pallatrax Gripz Match (wide gape, spade end)

I have used the Gripz wide gape exclusively for barbel fishing for around 3 seasons Cannot fault them Haven’t lost any fish due to a lack of microbarb and much easier to unhook than a microbarb Very sharp out of the packet and strong, never had one open up Wire is thicker than Drennan wide...

    Pike record gone !!!!!!!!

One day Ady… For my sins I’ve joined Wykeham as its much closer to home Obviously the BIG girl has gone but the chatter amongst members/ captors the last few days has been fascinating - they were so close and just great to hear the stories from lads who slipped the net under a 45 lb fish Current...

    Pike record gone !!!!!!!!

I think it's been hard ( and expensive) to get Chew tickets for a number of years, but apparently it was the lucky captors first visit , so hope does spring eternal. Love it or loathe it, they must be doing it right at Chew, as no other water comes close to producing the amount and stamp of...

    Xmas pressy

Doesn’t matter what DL rod I use , they’re not catching owt. So to keep me company on those slow days I like a radio and as I keep separate bags for barbel & pike and only one radio - it invariably ends up in the wrong bag Santa brought me a nice radio which looks champion as loads of ways to...

    Torrix or hi s rods

For what it’s worth I’ve just got in after an interesting day. Went for a days chubbing and got a 3lber However this was sandwiched by a 10-7 and 7-12 Yorkshire barbel , fat as pigs and fighting as hard as they did in the summer. River was fining , but still pushing through Tamed both on a...

    Vehicle of choice

I had a 320d with run flats and the ride would remove fillings it was that brutal. Same issues with just a powdering of snow and RWD but.. some decent snow tyres made a huge difference. So often overlooked.

    Xmas pressy

Nothing material but I could really do with a health pass from Santa having had Covid, pneumonia, norovirus and to cap it all a slipped disc - all in the last 10 weeks Certainly makes you appreciate your health and only consolation is conditions round here are pants at the moment

    Vehicle of choice

Hi Joe Yes - an Evoque.i have the PHEV but tbh rarely charge it but it is relatively tax efficient as a company car and I can fill it with petrol The build quality isn’t great for what they cost and they’re not that economical. My colleague has one less than 3 years old and it’s had a new...
