    Brolly reviews

Thank you all for the feedback, any lanky brolly users out there? At 6'5 I'm a bit worried (perhaps unnecessarily) about head room.

Most of them won’t last that long, there’s not many barbel in there 😂

    Lidl garlic sausage

Any preferences on hooks for the half a tin of spam? I’m on my last esp raptors, the modern carp hooks I have lying around are beautifully sharp and woefully short lived, the points seem to turn over if a fish farts half a mile downstream. Edit, just read back and seen a couple but no harm in...

    Barbel in the lower Severn??

I’m fishing at the moment and at the near the edge can get away with 2.5oz but have got 4.5oz in the middle. I’m fishing into the flow as opposed upstreaming, so could probably use less if doing that. A few days ago I used 1.5oz and would have used an oz if I’d had any with me. I believe...

    Mortimer and whitehouse new series

I didn’t watch yesterdays but perhaps that is what we need. Ever increasing levels of type 2 diabetes etc is not only a personal health issue but a financial problem for all of us. I really enjoy the programme though, bit of light hearted comedy and pretty scenics. What’s not to like.

    Why Korum, why?

Hi Rich, might not have worded my last post very well but it’s working out fine. I’m just using the shoulder strap as a carry handle. I’m very happy with it.

    Why Korum, why?

I’ve never got on with carrying stuff on the shoulder and the handle is useless on mine. I’ve shortened the shoulder strap as much as it will go and then just used that as the handle. Works nicely for me but might require a certain ground clearance.

    Why Korum, why?

Well I picked one up. By far the best quiver/ light holdall I've had and I haven't even had it on the bank yet. Only thing I don't like is the carry handle seems strangely placed for the load distribution, perhaps I need to put a brolly in it or something. Off to give it a try and hopefully...

I might have a spare somewhere Rich, I’ll have a look over the next day or two but if I can find it then you’re welcome to it.

Drennan relaunches Specialist Triangle Landing Nets

I've got plastic spreader blocks from these specialist nets that are probably 10 years old and they're still fine.

Not sure I could do that, but would be good to see it bend.

    11ft 2lb Torrix

Thank you David. Perhaps I should consider the 1.75 as well. I haven’t got any intention of using it mid river on wide bits of the Wye, I’m long bored of lobbing heavy leads or feeders about. Although would definately change my tune for the chance of an outsize fish. Generally if on those rivers...

    Another pb

Incredible fish, congratulations. You're the opposite of me, any new rod or reel is cursed for an unspecified period of time upon purchase.

    11ft 2lb Torrix

It's a lot cheaper which is attractive. I've had a couple of Free Spirits (not for barbel fishing) and haven't massively liked either of them, its put me off a bit really but I'm sure there must be rods in the range I would like. How would you describe the Barbel Seeker?
