This chap
www.alanhawk.com
has some interesting reviews & that includes dismantling each reel & analysing the engineering quality. This Penn has super line lay but maybe not as waterproof as claimed for example: https://www.alanhawk.com/reviews/spf.html
it's been updated since the review so...
It's a few years old but here's a BBC article - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-33410217
The Brooke Bond freshwater fish card series had a burbot in it. Might be a few rather lonely burbot tucked away in the fens I reckon.
There is a company called Simply Bearings who have been helpful to me in the past - if you can't easily measure it but can remove it & send to them I'd be surprised if they couldn't match it & possibly offer a variety of grades.

Good luck with it.
This is what you're looking for:

Go on, treat yourself!
I've just bought a set of these & so far they seem very effective & they're inexpensive. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOD-DIAMOND-GRIT-HOOK-SHARPENING-FILES-HOOK-VICE-HOOK-GREASE-STONES-POUCH/153909929875?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=453972763233&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
I've got one of the Prestige chairs & find it very good, (in fact it's the one in the video as I got it as `ex-display'!)
Watch out for the knobs falling off though, you need to screw them on tight - I lost one & had to buy a spare ( pause for sniggering ...)
I bought one new in Leeds 40 years ago, (Linsleys on the Headrow) they had many boxes of them piled up & they weren`t sellíng so it was at a discounted price!
Had it nicked ....:(
Hope you have many happy trots with it! :)
Well I'm a bit the same, haven't managed to get out as often as I'd like, however.
I'm happy enough with a very early start & finish by dinnertime.
Swale, Ure, Nidd. 15th August and not a single babel all season ....
I do notice from a lot of the lovely fish on the rivers photos that many are...
I've plucked up enough courage to have a taste & it's certainly hot enough for me! It appears to be emulsified so it's only about 50% oil, hence the low calorie - will maybe help with dispersing the flavour. Will set some spam up to soak in it & give it a go!
Picked up a couple of these & it might be useful for spicing up meat - £1.49. It's tucked away in the middle bit somewhere as I don't think it's a regular line. Haven't dared taste it yet ....
I did ask about quality of hemp on here a long while ago - the stuff I got locally was tiny & didn't prepare well at all.
CC Moore reckon their stuff is top quality - have you tried it or an alternative?
I do know a racing pigeon feed supplier here in Yorks, maybe they would have some decent...
Have sent on a message Steve. I've tried phoning BAC without any luck so far - must be busy I guess.
Thanks for sorting it for me Steve - will let you know when it arrives, Best wishes Julian
Thanks for the tip - a very long time ago I'd call into Terry's shop on the corner while travelling Yorks to Worcs - just had a look on Google & that's the BAC!
Was lucky enough to get a couple of rods back then. Might be silly chasing a spool of mono but it is good stuff. I'll give them a try...
Looks like there's none around. I did see an ad for some on facebook in Tamworth but he won't post. Some 8lb & others £10 a spool if you can collect :
https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/271782750707342
Might find some GR60 stuff instead.
Has anyone got a fullish spool of the above? Seems it's difficult to find & maybe out of production but I do find it reliable.
Thanks if you can help, Julian
