@Nigel Whittingham I take yout point, as with all posts on here it's only a matter of my own personal experience which I grant you is subjective. I have trialled both Halibut pellets and red Krill pellets same size alternating between upstream and downstream rods during the same sessions and...
My go to pellets now are Dynamite Robin Red 8mm & 14mm and Swim Stim Red Krill 8mm & 14mm. I have found them to outfish Halibut pellets 2 to 1. Smaller pellets for clearer/low water and the larger for Winter / flood water fishing.
Prologic Sky Pod sturdy pod that has served me well. If I am fishing anywhere rocky where I can't get the legs buried then I tie something heavy on just to prevent the whole lot going in if it's a savage take. I have heard it has happened to others, so don't take chances. The only downside is...
Just becomes a run rig, but does have the advantage that it kicks the hooklink out better. On the middle Trent where I mainly fish the takes are anything but shy and the gravel and rocky nature of the river bed, makes me wary of clipping up in any fashion. I would hate to think of leaving a...
Thank you Richard,
We are looking to go on a Monday/Tuesday, so will expect A1 to be a lot less busy, than a weekend. I thought at Fiskerton you had to be a member of the syndicate in order to night fish ?
Funny you should mention float fishing for Barbel, I am going to try my hand at it...
Evening all,
I am looking to take a friend for a single over-night session soon to either A1 pits stretch or Bob's Island. I would appreciate receiving some views on how either is fishing at the moment.
Many thanks
Kevin
Glad to hear your well on the mend Simon, just need to support your good lady now being nurse (did you get the uniform to go with the job ? 🤔😂 Just think of how many Brownie points you will earn running around after the Mrs. :D As soon as are able to get bankside we will sort out a day /...
Hi Simon are you going to bite the bullet and go for the Newark & District Pisc Fed ticket for next season. If you do let me know and we will get some dates organised for fishing days.
Evening Simon,
Well when you have done all you can in the proper manner and it's falling on deaf ears then it's time to walk away as you have decided. It sounds like a clique of Committee Members that just don't want anything to change and will make sure it doesn't.
Not familiar with the Basia, is there that much of a difference between my Cadence 12Ft 2 Lb and the Basia 2.25 Lb to warrant buying them would you say ?
1.75 Lb might be the most popular across all the range of rivers, but if you were to break it down to big and small rivers there would be a split of 2 LB for bigger rivers & 1.75 Lb for smaller ones. Having said that it's down to personal preference. on the Middle Trent I prefer 2 Lb and my...
Took a drive out to Future Fishing at Farndon to get my Christmas pressie from my Mum & Stepdad. Drennan Specialist 50" umbrella which will be ideal when fishing from stone steps as it can be supported by two banksticks where it's not feasible to get a central pole in the ground. I was going to...
Is 37.5 Lb BS (0.22) necessary ? New to Braid so would appreciate learning why a heavy BS is required. I fish mainly the middle / tidal trent around Newark so looking for a braid suitable for floodwater fishing to lessen the weight required to hold bottom and hopefully reduce the tendency to...
Morning Simon,
I hope you are well.
Appreciate that the BMAA waters are a lot closer, but if the fish just are not there, then a journey to say Newark & District Piscatorial Fed stretches will be worth the extra effort. There is a bonus of course, it means we can fish together and you know I...
I mainly fish around the Middle & Tidal Trent around Newark so have to contend with gravel, rocks & boulders on the bottom. I have hooklengths varying from 1 1/2 Ft, 3 Ft & 6FT for varying conditions from floodwater completely opaque to clear. Hooklength comprises Guru Flurocarbon 12 Lb to 2" of...
