feeder fishing : maggot feeder works for barbel in winter as i reckon it attracts smaller fish and they're activity encourages the barbel to feed.
also i reckon the movement of the maggot eventually gets the barbel to respond without overfeeding them...

he's not that tight my mucker gave me some free feeders when i purchased some reels off him;)

first of all why keep casting into a snag which sounds substantial?
im sure the fish will move away from the snag if tempted from above!
secondly the line your using is doing the job its supposed to do, straightening hooks is better than losing the lot!
