    A Proper Camera

It's non SLR, but my Canon G6 is superb. I've managed to capture some cracking pictures over the last four years. Agree with Daniel, yes they're slightly bulky, but it does fit easily into the corner of your rucksack or saddle bag. Highly recommended piece of kit. Ian

    Barbel in the snow

Now I do believe there was a photo in the archives of a certain Nick Coulthurst, (one of the original BFWer's, now returned to the friendly fold ;)), with a picture, (naked? :p) with a fish in the snow. Arr those were the days...

    Using 2 rods

Hi Graham, As most will agree, it rather depends where you are fishing. If you're fishing the Thames, for example, you could use four rods! such is the size of the task at times. The smaller rivers, yes just one stick and move around alot ;) Cheers Ian

With a few months left to go.....how has your season been so far ?

Well, I haven't barbel fished! The summer tenching wasn't bad, had three very good sessions when I actually found them on the 'big pit'. The Thames carping was tricky, I never got the monster I was after, (I won't bleat about the monster I did lose on the tidal river, gutted didn't come...

    Float Rod

Hi Gary, I have a few rods in the rack in the garage. A 13ft IM9 for the chub, (this blank is the mutt's bo44ocks), a 15ft Bob James, (not my rod, a friend who lives away), for the larger rivers, but when I'm trotting out and out for barbel I use a 13ft Harrison Float because the blank has the...

    Apologies

The joys of residing in the sticks Andy ;) I agree with Mike, I would seek compensation in the form of a plump brace. Partial I am to a bit of p'easant, with a full glass of Chateauneuf-du-Pape :p Ian

Hi chaps, I will start at the beginning of Feb for the billies. No monsters last year but a few 3's hit the net. A couple below from the past couple of years 3.6 4.1 I think they are my 2nd fav species after tench :) Ian

    Tench

Hi chaps, Being a 'seasonal' kinda guy I'll be back on the hunt again come the spring. The place I'm on is about 60 acres so it's not so much catching them, it's finding the little buggers :) I dispensed with the alarms and light bobbins and switched to a sliding float down the deep margins...

Many thanks for the invitation chaps. I'm sure this is a great step to the quality content we used to enjoy on here a few years ago. Good luck :) Ian
