Which off the shelf float rod? Opinions please :)

Yea, it's just previous experiences with minima style guides that made me wary. The rod though, absolute corker imo! I know my friend had several very decent barbel with his 14ft supera power last week and rattled them out with it.

Which off the shelf float rod? Opinions please :)

Yea, after having a play with a friends preston supera power rod I was very impressed. To be honest I felt it put the new avenger to shame! The only thing I wasn't sure about were the guides, the blank and the action were superb.

Which off the shelf float rod? Opinions please :)

Thanks for the info Richard. I have had the Harrell rods for quite a number of years now. I remember thinking the 14ft rod was jinxed as it took me a few outings before I actually caught a barbel with it. Turned out the rod wasn't jinxed after all and the very first barbel I had with it was...

Which off the shelf float rod? Opinions please :)

I've no knowladge of the 14ft daiwa SM2 XP rod but i've heard some very good things about it. I have the Daiwa Dave Harrell RS PF in 13 and 14ft but going off what i've heard about the SM2 XP the Harrells arn't as powerful. It's a pity daiwa don't still make the SM2 XP rods! Thanks for the...

Which off the shelf float rod? Opinions please :)

How do you mean John? As far as I am aware the normarks have always been portrayed largely for river anglers. When I got my two and three thousands way back when, and then the mkIIs after they were always thought of as being top totty for trotting a float. For what its worth I've used a mkII...

    Hardy conquest centrepins

A video from a few weeks back whilst using a Chris Lythe 4 1/2 x 1inch SU floatmester in use, superb to cast and very free running, The SU stands for "stepped up" so the reel has heavier line pillars. I have a 4.25 x 1 inch standard floatmaster which has Chris's usual/ standard line lay pillars...

    Hardy conquest centrepins

At the end of the day out of the numerous centrepin reels that i've ever owned and used which to be fair is quite a few, Chris's reels are leaps and bounds beyond them all "for myself". Imo the build quality of his reels is exceptional and I find they function so nicely in use. They make...

    Hardy conquest centrepins

I remember NWA in Hindley selling the Hardy Conquest reels for hundred quid if you bought them with a highly discounted hardy rod as a package. If you bought the reel on its own its was 150 quid, but, they would sort you a better deal if you asked, so they were a serious bargain back then, as...

Which off the shelf float rod? Opinions please :)

I'll echo you and Lee, imo they are the king of the float rods past and present. I got one of the latest normark avengers recently, and again, jmo, the acolyte speci blows it away by a country mile. I would also recommend the acolyte plus which is slightly less powerful but I never had a problem...

Advice needed for a fixed spool float fishing reel for trotting.

I forgot to mention the shimano FJ (ST2500FJ). I have no idea if they are still available new as I got mine quite a few years back. I like them enough that I would look for a mint second hand one should anything untoward happen to mine. I can't find anything negative to say about the reel, so...

Advice needed for a fixed spool float fishing reel for trotting.

Hi Etienne, your 501 should be good, appart from the line stick you get with them. If you after a fixed spool reel you already have a belter in the centris! If you just fancy a new reel then as mentioned by Mike Window the daiwa TDR reels are nice and the 3012 is just a nice size. There are lots...

Centerpin reel angling channel on youtube?

Hello Etienne, I appreciate you subscribing and hope you enjoy the channel ! I would highly recommend the okuma centerpin reels to anyone, be it a total novice or an experienced centrepin angler. They have gone up in price now if you buy brand new, but are still a good buy. You can pick up a...

    Free spirit 15ft hi s mk1

I haven't got one of the mk1 rods. I did get the mk2 12ft power float rod and it feels nice to use, but for me personally it lacks in power. I have caught a few barbel with it but the biggest fish was prolly about 7lb at a push and that was in a swim where I could play the fish without worrying...

    New Normark Rods

I popped round to the local tackle shop today for some maggots and while I was there the shop owner produced a normark legasy limited numbered avenger for me to have a waggle with. A week or so back a good friend of mine gave me his opinion of the new avenger after he had a play with one in his...

    Temu (again)

My mrs set up her email so any dodgy sites etc goes straight to spam. That kind of thing has been going on for many years, your own email provider or any other merchant you use could be hacked or give that basic information away.
